Question about Vizio 42 in. LCD TV
Bought a brand new 32" Vizio. Hooked the TV up but the brand new remote doesn't work. Replaced the batteries thinking the new batteries may be bad. Still nothing! Don't waste your time or money on Vizio brand. You get what you pay for and I was gonna buy Sony but someone talked me out of it. New I should've listened. Not only is the remote junk. The picture is horrible. Bought it 1/17/13 and I promise, it's going back tomorrow!

Check your remote control handset first for battery and to the sectond for infrared emission. Before replacing the batteries, look for any dust or rust accumulation in the contacts of battery at the battery compartment. Clean it anyway by using a piece of smooth sand paper, and put the fresh batteries in. Then check whether the remote functions well with TV or not. If not check it for infrared emission.
TV and remote control communicates with infrared rays, that emerges from the remote control for our each press of its buttons. These infrared rays cannot be detected by human eyes, but can be detecected by electronic cameras. You can check it with a cellphone which have camera option. Put the cellphone in camera mode, and place the remote control with fresh batteries in, and place it at about one feet away from the camerea lens, with its infrared light emitting face towards it, press each button on the remote control hand set. If there is any infrared rays emits ffom the remote control the camera will sense it and will show its image at its secreen.
If there is no indication of these infrared rays, the remote control has damaged, and you have to buy a new one of same type and number. OK.

Turn tv on manually.Test the remote control all functions are dead or some functions work other don't?Tries take the remote control parts and clean the inner rubbers buttons between the rubbers insulater and the remote circuitries board and the battery connections + - connections with some rubbing alchahol. Then wait awhile like 20 mins and putting it back together again and putting in new battery in the remote,it might work again. If getting the same result than the remote CPU chip is probally dead, remote control devices are very depended on it CPU chip.Try website like Remotes.com to buy an original remote for the replacement.
