I need drivers for dell dimension xps d300 for windows 98 just like it was new long story can any one help me thanks David

You can download the drivers from Dell WEB site, thesupport download page. Make sure you select your model desktop or laptop, better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on thebottom of the laptop and on the back or sides of a desktop. (If the Service Taglabel is missing then go into the BIOS setting and on one of the BIOS pages, the Service Tag number will be displayed). This will open the page where thespecific drivers for your model computer are located. Also make sure you selectthe Windows of the drivers for your Windows operating system. Click on thislink to download the drivers: - http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen

I have a Dell dimension XPS 400/9150, 3 years old. I did updates and shut down. Tried to restart, but all I got was a flickering amber light. Won't start at all. Now no light.

Sounds like your power supply just failed. Unplug the power cord, open the case, and look for a metal box inside the case right where the power wire plugs in. Remove the box...usually four screws hold it to the case, remove all of the wires...marking each one and the motherboard so you'll be able to connect the new power supply wires. Most computer stores will have a suitable replacement. Easy replacement if you mark the wires/connections during removal. Just be sure to work with the power plug removed.

Compatibility

Not without major case modifications. Dell uses Dell specific rather than industry standard motherboards on all their systems except the newest XPS line. Sorry.

if so, i actually used to have one! The network port is on the rear of the case, as you can see as number 4 on this image:

Transfer data from Dinension hard drive to XPS hard drive

If you have no experience with this, it might be easier to just copy the data from your Dimension to a external usb harddisk and then to the XPS. But i will try to explain it.

I've looked a bit around: your XPS hard drive is a SATA drive, while your the drive in your Dimension is probably a PATA-drive (just connection types. Look at the hard drives and compare them with this image to see which types they are.)
As far as I know the XPS 530 has a Foxconn G33M-S motherboard, which contains one ATA (PATA) connector. So you should be able to just connect the hard drive from your Dimension into the XPS.
To make it work properly, you should set the drive from the Dimension to slave. This can be done by setting the jumpers next to the cable connector. The jumper setting depends on your hard drive model. Usually the possible settings are shown on the hard drive.
If you feel uncomfortable with this whole thing, you could ask someone, who has some experience and who you trust to do it for you, or just use an external usb hard disk

Make sure the computers are off and disconnected from the power outlet, when you open the case...
Dell offers a user manual for your Dimension and XPS. Maybe it's of some help by removing and placing the various parts...
Please tell me how it worked out.
As you probably understand, I can't take any responsibiity for damage to your system...
If you have any problems, just post them here!
