We need more info. Which control system is it? Suntouch, easytouch, intellitouch.......? It sounds like a programming problem in the controller.

No there is a cover on the other side of the motor thet comes off and with a 9/16 wrench holding the shaft - spin the impeller off

When you have noise in the pump it is usually a rumbel or rattel. If you have a squealing it is probally in your motor and is more than likly a bad bearing. If you have any water leaking at your seal this is probally the problem and it will just get worse. Sorry to say you are very close to a new motor.

changing the seal is ok but if the shaft has become corroded then you will not get a true seal. the noise is most probably the bearings and replacing them doesn't always help.
best solution is to replace the whole pump which will give you years of use instead of months

Thank you for posting your question here on Fixya.com.
Does it make any noise as if it is trying to start? If so it could be the pump is bound up but it is more likely the motor is failing. It may be a small part such as the capacitor or the starting switch, but could also be more severe such as the winding itself. You will also want to examine the shaft where it passes thru the pump and motor and look for signs of rust from a pump seal leak.
If not you will need to examine the power coming into the motor and look for trouble there.
If you are not familiar with testing these parts your best bet would be a local electric motor repair shop to see if the motor can be repaired or if it would need to be replaced. They should also be able to ensure there is no pump damage. If you wish to continue to try to repair it yourself please comment with any questions you have as you work thru the pump and motor.
