Question about Whirlpool Cabrio WTW6600SBT Top Load Washer

1 Answer

Whirlpool Cabrio WTW6600SB2. Won't spin or agitate. The harness and RPS are new. Has a new Stator also. I am getting a reading of 1.5k ohms accross pins 6-5,6-4 and 6-3 of the p10 connector. Meter was set on 20K scale. Tested P10 with two meters. Tested meter with 15k resistor when I got home. The Hall sensors tested good in Manual:Moter RPS test. Do I have to replace the RPS again. How can I test the control.

Whirlpool Cabrio WTW6600SB2 won't spin or agitate. We bought it used and they swore it worked. It goes from 45min and drops down to 3mins. It never completes it's load. And after it beeps with a OL on

Most spin troubles are caused by drain or pressure switch problems, but it does not look like that is your case. Check for blockage in drain system and clean the hose connected to pressure switch. As said I do not think that this is the problem but the drain system must be checked as part of troubleshooting.

OL code in fact is not related to drain problems, but to motor and mechanical problem. OL is returned when the washer is overloaded and the motor cannot turn the basket properly.

The first step to diagnose the problem is removing the basket and looking for problems under the basket (e.g. broken part or clothes stuck under the tub). Here a document showing how to.

If parts under the basket are OK the next step will consist in testing the motor. The motor can be tested reading impedance at its phase terminal and across the stator winding. The Cabrio's motor should read about 30/32 Ohms across its phase contacts.

If the motor and the rest are OK the problem is usually the RPS sensor that detects the rotational speed of the motor.

Will not spin code 51

Hello there and thank you for choosing fixya
This is the Cabrio washer. F51 fault code is likely the Rotor Position switch failure, located on the motor. Even though it might run, the Hall sensor inside it has gone out. The Cabrio manual is in the Online Repair manuals Forum which you may jump to from any page at the bottom right if you want to test motor resistance from the convenience of the console. Many people mistakenly replace the main control board in hopes of correcting this issue but it is actually a communications error between the Hall sensor and the main board.

There is a Rotor Position switch kit which should correct the problem, and comes with a new harness and excellent instructions. picure below :

Whirlpool cabrio WTW6700TW1 only fills little bit, won't turn or agitate, buzz sound/humming noise, code F51 flashes??

The F51 error is a RPS (rotary position sensor) board failure where the control board looses contact with the RPS during the machines operation. The RPS uses hall effect sensors to determine the speed and direction of the drive motor, allowing the control board to constantly monitor the motors operation. Because this error is a communication error and not a mechanical error with the motor itself (that would be and F52 error) we can limit our trouble shooting to the three items that make up the RPS circuit, the control board, the wiring harness, and the RPS itself.

F50(F50)-Motor Stalled
F then 50 flashes when the motor rotor position sensor (RPS) senses no rotation.
Does basket turn freely? If not, make sure bottom shipping pack has been removed. Determine cause of friction.

Washer shows an F50 fault code

The main control needs to be replaced along with the RPS. Whirlpool had a recall or is aware of this problem.

F50 error code and Whirlpool Cabrio

this code would indicate rps sensor at motor. whirlpools are very bad with electronics and control boards. New rps sensor requires new harness as well.

F 50

ya the F 50 code. I'm getting it too. open the that top control piece by taking a quarter inch nut driver and there are 3 screws in the back. You need an ohmmeter to check the resistance on the motor and the rps sensor. If you dont know how to use an ohmmeter then u probably wont benifit from this. There are 3 wires yellow red and blue. You need to see what you get between those. it needs to be 16 ohms if it is not then the motor might be bad. also check the resistance on the 6 brown wires if there is none between the brown on each end of the harness then the rps might be bad. i would recommend doing that and then calling whirlpool 1-800-253-1301. Thats what im going to do. Im getting 30.6 ohms on the motor and none on the rps sensor. so i figure one of them is bad or both of them are bad.and if it costs over 150 to fix then i will probably recommend it a total loss.

Whirlpool Cabrio Washer

The F50 error code indicates that the RPS (rotor position sensor) detects no motor rotation. Check to see if the basket spins freely. If not, you could have an item caught between the outer tub and the inner spin basket. A toy or other item underneath the washer could also prevent the basket from spinning and would result in this F50 code.

If the basket spins freely, you could have a wiring failure that would prevent the motor from spinning.

Cabrio whirlpool washer

you could clean the rps sensor with rubbing alcohol. tip machine back, remove the rotor with al allen wrench. remove the (4) 5/16" bolts holding the stator on, carefully unclip the rps sensor. (Rotor Position Sensor). Remove the wire clip and clean the contacts. Reassemble and give it a try. Or have your dealer ( unless its sears as they WILL NOT help you, call yourself, 800-253-1301) and see if they will give you a one time goodwill gesture to their customer and cover it under warranty. If cleaning doesn't help you need the control board, wire harness, and rps sensor replaced. the rps sensor should come with the new harness. Whirlpool may cover parts????? hope this helps
