Duet dryer is making a humming noise when cycle starts a d during

whenever i hear a humming sound in a dryer it's usually the motor or something caught in the blower wheel stopping the motor from the door and see if you can spin the drum.if it spins by hand try this, open the door, push in the door switch with one hand, have someone push the start button while you hold in the door switch and spin the drum by hand helping it move,if it runs you have a bad motor,if it doesn't remove the bottom panel and see if the belt is broke and stuck in the motor but like i say usually it has something to do with the motor not spinning.hope this helps

When turning on the dryer I only hear a hum or buzz

it sounds like your motor is stuck it might be clogged with lint that gets though into the cabinet and surounds the motor and motor contact try giving it a service vac out around the motor

Dryer turns on but doesn't tumble

  • If you can hear your motor spinning, then it is most likely caused by a broken drum belt.
  • If you can hear your motor 'humming' like it it stuck, then you might have faulty 'motor start capacitor'.
  • If you cannot hear the motor, then it maybe the drying controller board or sometimes the motor itself.
All cases involve dismantling the dryer and best left to a qualified dryer mechanics: check your warranty as the unit may still be under warranty (in which case, call the manufacturer help desk for instructions).

Hope the information helps!

My dryer won't start. When i activate the start switch I hear a hum like the motor is bound up.. I opened the top and the drum is not stuck and the belt seems in good shape. The unit is about 4 years...

check the blower wheel sometimes objects get caught in it not allowing it to spin. If it is clean open the dryer door push and hold the door switch and push start while it is humming rotate the drum. if it starts to spin then you need a new motor it will run you probably 150 - 200 dollars

It was working fine. All of a sudden, the dryer stopped. When I press the start button I hear a buzz or grunt sound, but the drum doesn't spin.

Hello- Its possible that there is a bad start relay or switch but most likely the motor is bad. Try spinning the drum by hand, if it doesn't spin there may be something (a sock) stuck in the blower motor. You would have to take the machine apart to determine this. Depending on the Make and Model it could be difficult, or not. Just BE SURE if you open anything up the dryer is unplugged. Good Luck

Drum not turning, hear humming noise

the humming noise is from the motor, see if you can spin the drum by hand,if it moves you have a bad motor,if it's hard to turn you could have something stuck in the blower wheel or the belt is jammed somewhere, the blower wheel is behind the duct that the lint filter slides into

Dryer wont spin but will heat still

f you can hear a hum then the motor may be bad or the tumbler is stuck. If you don't then the motor may be bad or the belt may be broken. If you can hear a hum then it probably wouldn't be worth fixing, I would suggest getting a new one. If you can't, open it up and see what's wrong

We just purchased a new Samsung Dryer model #DV218AEB/XAA the lights will come on but when you attempt to start the dryer there is a hum, the dryer does not spin, then the hum goes away after a few...

Could be a couple things causing this problem. If you can turn the durm by hand without much resistance then the belt may be too loose. This could be because the spring on the tension pully came off or the belt streached. The humming you hear is the motor spinning. If you cannot turn the drum by hand then something could be stuck between the drum and the frame of the dryer.
I would also check that the dryer is wired correctly, because low voltage could be causing the motor to hum but not turn.

Kenmore 62811 just stopped working. Hear a slight hum.

a humming sound could be the motor or check to see if something is stuck in blower wheel, try spinning the drum by hand to see if anything is locked up stopping the motor from spinning
