1 Answer

I replaced three cans. they were bulged on the top. i plugged the tv in and it did the same thing. i said it blinks 4 times fast but it is only three. blink code says 3=RESERVED. i pulled the the y-sustain plug off the power supply board and it does the same thing blinks 3 times fast. when it is powering up i hear a popping noise and then 2 green lites just to the right of where power cord plug is, they come back on then it pops again they go out, the 3 time it pops, lights go out, they stay out and the red light on the front blinks 5 slow , 3 fast. is there a place i can a picture so i can see where the y=sustain, power and where is the low B+fuse thank you pawpa28

Philips lists 3 models of your TV:
1) 50PFP5332D/37
2) 50PFP5332D/37B
3) 50PFP5332D/37E

User Manual for your TV (actually for the 50PFP5332D/37E):
http://download.p4c.philips.com/files/5/50pfp5332d_37e/50pfp5332d_37e_dfu_aen.pdf
The user manual doesn't document the logic board blink codes for errors.

What this tells me is that the TV went thru two revisions before reaching version E.
in case it helps: Philips Customer Support: 1-888-PHILIPS.
If they can't help otherwise, they can at least tell you if your set is eligible for warranty service.

When power it'll blink three times and shuts off

It is probably the power board. When the capacitors on the board fail they can make a hissing noise. If you look at the board and the small cylindrical things on the board ( which are the capacitors) are bulged on top instead of flat this indicates a failed capacitor. The board should then be replaced. Hope this helps.

I have a 42PFP5332 which doesn't turn on. When plugging in the power the green led on the power circuit board turn for a few seconds and then blinks for 9 times. After that it blinks for 10 times

Good day!!!

That problem is usually cause of faulty capacitors on the power supply board..

Just follow this instruction to fix your TV..

1. Open the back cover of your TV.
2. Look at the power supply board..Its normally connected to the power cord..
3. After that,,try to look at the actual image of capacitors if it is bulged on the top so that you can easily determine the bad capacitors..
4. After that,,try to replaced the bad capacitors using soldering iron and soldering lead..replaced the capacitors only with the same type ratings and value..
5. Some of the capacitors not bulged so its better if have a capacitance meter

Wont turn on

Hi
With the back removed from the Tv look at the power supply for swollen or bulged capacitors on top, they may even leak a brown like liquid substance from them and are usually valued around 1000uf / 10v.
This is a common fault of these power supplys, any you suspect change with a higher voltage but always keep the same uf.
Lets say 1000uf / 25v
Hope this helps.
