Question about Sony BRAVIA KDL-40V2500 40 in. LCD HDTV

2 Answers

I have no picture but have audio. Problem occurs AFTER playing games on a Sony Playstation. After you get done and switch from the Input from the Playstation to Digital TV you get a blank screen. If you do not change inputs and just watch TV the problem does not occur. When this first started happening if you hit the side of the TV the picture would come back. Now its gone for good. TV is only a few years old.

Did I jst pay $5 bucks for you to tell me to take it to a repair shop? No other advice then that?

  • jgslote Mar 24, 2011

Thanks Charles. Does it make any difference that right now I can watch a DVR and have a picture but cannot watch TV?

  • jgslote Mar 24, 2011

I just received advice that I may have a faulty capacitor and to take my TV to a repair shop to determine which capacitor is faulty. Based on the symptoms that I have described does this sound correct? I do not want to spend several hundred $$ at a shop if I do not have to. Again, I have a picture watching DVRs or playing games but no picture with sound watching digital TV.

Thank JD. As I mentioned in one of my previous notes the problems ONLY occurs AFTER playing vidoe games on my Playstation and swtiching from one Input to the Digitial TV Input. I unplugged the TV last night and waited a while and it finally came back on. If you just watch tTV the problem never occurs. Does your solution sound correct with these additional facts?
    Thanks for your help.

Hi jgslote,
This is an indication of bad solder joints in the I/O board section where the DTV cable connected. You have to re-solder this cold/dry/crack solder to cure the symptom. This is hard to spot, I would advice you to work in the brightest area or use table/portable lamp, magnifying glass to find it. Pull-out also the cable connectors from the that board and then re-insert.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

Also check or replaced if necessary the video cable connectors of DTV.

Hi, look first the for bad solder joints in the I/O board like what I've mentioned. You've said that there's some instances the picture will come on when you hit the side of the tv. This is to isolate bad solder joints from trouble.

What you have is a faulty capacitor. The problem is finding out which one. I would recommend that you take it to a repair shop, that will take the guess work out of it and it will save you time and money.

The thing with testing a capacitor is that it can intermittenly work which will mask the issue. Unless you are a skilled technician that has the tools necessary to perform the job, then it would be necessary to take it to a repair shop. You could bypass that step and order a power supply board which has all the capacitors on it, and just install it yourself. Replacing the power supply board is fairly easy if you have the time and patience to do the job. The up side to taking it to a repair shop, is that if they damage the part upon installation, they have to fix it, and if you damage it, then you will have to buy another one and try it again. Sometimes the answer to the question is not what you may have expected, but it is sage advice.

When using my ps3 I have audio and no picture or picture and no audio when playing games and dvd's. This problem just happened recently, it worked before.

HI, you will have to do a troubleshooting process.

    You connections might be faulty,
    wrong connection setting,
    Wrong resolution setting,
    and other related problems.

Some users are reporting that although they are getting images on their TV, the content is distorted when playing DVDs or Blue Ray Discs. The most common cause of this occurs when you hook your PS3 to your TV through a VCR. Some types of copy protection built into older VCR units may cause the distortion. If this happens, just plug your PS3 directly into your TV and by-pass any other components.

Fortunately, most no-picture issues with the PS3 fall into one of the above quick-to-fix situations. If you still can't get a picture on your TV with your PS3 connected, you might want to check the material that came along with your console and look for the customer service number. Hopefully, your warranty will cover any work that might need to be done or provide for a replacement unit.

    hope that helps.

need any assistance, you can pass your comments.

    Take care

    Game sound doesn't work

    Hello..

What you are experiencing is as a result of bad audio connection.

Please Check the mute function on your TV or audio system if there is no sound

Check the audio settings of your device to make sure it "sees" the PS3. Also make sure you are using the correct audio cables and they are properly connected.

Make sure the input mode on your TV is compatible with the connectors used by the PS3

Also check the audio settings of the game you are playing..

Have a PS3 connected via HDMI to Panasonic Viera 42". Can't get any volume while playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare. Volume is good on start up but not during game play. Can you help?

Sony PS3 has an Audio issue with HDMI, the only way to cure this bbuilt in defect is to use a seperate audio cable and use the HDMI for the video, I suggest the audio hook be a optical digital cable, if you don't have one they are avail on ebay very cheap, if you don't have the optical input on the TV then use standard RCA audio A and B cables
