Same problem I have, flow meter! you could buy it @ although I am not sure which cluster you would connect the flow meter to the power board. My husband and I have opened the machine and we forgot to reconnect the flow meter to the power board. If you could take a look for us either J3 or J6 I will be more than happy to know. thks

Programmed buttons not working. I have to manually stop the water for making the small medium and large cup. How do I reprogram?

The buttons cannot be reprogrammed. What sounds to be the problem is the Flow Meter near the pump which regulates water flow. They also call this the kick-back element. This functions by having a wire connection run from the Electronic Card to the Flow Meter where there is another plug connection on top of the unit. Within there is a magnet and spindle that measures the amount of water flowing through. When this is not functioning properly the pre-measured volumes for espresso do not work.
When you make a selection, the selected function light will blink if the operation is working correctly. If the light is solid this is usually an indication that there is a malfunction somewhere. The Electronic Card may be bad or the Flow Meter may be bad. If the light goes off and remains off while the selected function is in use it will usually result in the same probable cause I listed above.
Before hunting down a repair location try descaling your machine with a descaling unit made for your machine. Fine pieces of sediment may have gotten lodged in the tiny holes within the Flow Meter causing it to malfunction. If this does not solve it, have the flow meter replaced by a certified tech.

When making espresso half way through the pump quits working and display back light blinks with all icons lit. The steamer works fine, it is just when making espresso.

Most likely you will see the problem when doing a single or double espressos and when just producing hot water. All these three functions work based on specific amounts of water. Most likely your flow meter is not working properly. I replaced my flow meter (< $20) and the unit now works fine.

Make sure the k-cup holder is snapped completely back into place. If the arrows aren't aligned and you don't snap the arrow-side in first, it won't work. If that doesn't do it, check your water reservoir to ensure it is properly seated in it's base. Hope that of luck!

Espresso function very sporadic! Sometimes it works ok, other times the espresso function switches off. Also, the cups on the LCD display keep blinking suddenly. Out of warranty too - boo!

Make sure there is no water in the area where the container plugs into the unit on the expresso side. If there is water the water container cannot seal properly and the unit acts as if it ran out of water. If that is not the issue then you likely have a leak in the seal/valve itself and the unit would have to be opened to tighten the screws holding the seal/valve in place.

No espresso

I had the same problem and found out that the flow meter was not working. The control unit was not getting flow information and after about 5-10 seconds it will just stop and blink all the lights. I replaced the flow meter and solved the problem. The flow meter is located between the water tank and the pump.

Try to make a cup of water to see if it gets in ready position.
If you have a magnet in the water tank, make sure that flow up when you fill the water tank with water.

If the problem still are ther i think you have to replace the flow meter in the machine.

I am getting an error message that says VENTILATE

Try draining the machine. Page 37 of the user manual, Drainage. Place cup under the steam/hot water tube, turn knob clockwise around to 9. If the pump is ok, it will start automatically and start filling the cup. Drain about 1/2 cup of hot water and return knob counterclockwise to start position. If the flow meter is not damaged, the Ventilate message should be gone.
