If you are referring to a Windows Password - Get them to unlock / give you the password. This can be more serious than expected and good luck.

OK, if you are running Windows 7, Microsoft tightenedsecurity on it so you've got to have a password reset disk which 99% of thepeople who own laptops with windows 7 fail to do. It should be one of thefirst things you do when you buy the laptop. Otherwise, you're faced withreinstalling the Operating System or possibly doing a System Recovery.

If you're on Windows XP or Vista try this:

Turn off the computer, then hit the power button to turn it back on andimmediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see the Safe Modeoption. Select SAFE MODE and let the computer boot up. When it getsto the User Login screen it will show the Administrator userid and the useridfor which you forgot the password. Sign in as the Administrator (hopefullyyou didn't put a password on it and forgot it too). Once the desktopappears it will look different, the screen will be darker and the icons bigger,but this is normal for safe mode.

Click Start/Control Panel/User Accounts
When the User Accounts screen opens, click on the userid for which you forgotthe password. Select the option to REMOVE PASSWORD.

Reboot your machine.

Restart your computer, and as soon as you see the logo of the company that made your computer (ie: Dell, Toshiba, IBM, eMachine, etc....) keep pressing the F8 key. Soon a lot of different Options come up, choose the one that says start Windows in Safe Mode.

Once in safe mode, choose Administrator from the login screen, then go Control Panel -> users and then change the person's password.

During the boot up process you will see on the screen for a short amount of time press a certain key to enter set up

Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS scroll down to set user password or supervisor password you can change or remove your password from there

or

control panel user accounts

on the users tab,click the name of the computer administrator you can change the password there

This is only possible is you are using Windows XP. If your operating system is windows Xp, follow the steps below:

1. Turn on your laptop and allow it get to the stage where is will ask for user/log password
2. Press Ctrl + Alt + Del your keyboard.
3. A user name and password prompt will pop up.
4. On the user name type in "administrator
5. On the password, type in "administrator"
6. and you windows will open, go to control panel from there to change the password.

That's all. In other words, the user name and password is administrator.

But in the case of windows Vista, you will have to re-run windows operating system, because vista security is very tight.

Connect your router to any of your laptop/desktop through LAN cable and launch internet explorer. Type the IP address 192.168.2.1 in Address space and press enter. You will be asked to enter user id and password. Generally, user is admin and password may be admin or password. Once you log in, just search for the mac filter option and disable it. You are done now.

Try to repair the OS

press F8 on boot up, choose safemode, choose administrator, no password, goto control panel, users, select your account, select change password, change password, apply, close evrything out, reboot, log into your account with new password.
