On the Carb there are usually two needle valves, doing one at a time and carefully counting half turns. Using a small screwdriver start turning clockwise one of the screws in and count how many half turns you turn until tight. Might be 1 1/2 (half turns) to 3 1/2 (half turns) After it is tight reverse the screw and spring and remove it. Blow out the hole with a stray or air pump or wd40 spray can with straw tip. Reinstall until tight then open the amount of half turn you recorded. Do the same with the other needle valve.

Chain saw does not start

Start with dumping out old fuel and putting in fresh fuel. Uncover the carb and spray some statring fluid in it. If it does not fire clean or better replace the spark plug. If still no start you should replace the points and condensor under the flywheel and set the proper gap on the points listed in your owners manual.

Spark ok seems like no gas getting out of carb ? how do you take out carb?

First dump out old gas and try fresh. The fuel line to the carb will still have old fuel so a few sprays of starting fluid in the carb will pull the old fuel through the line till the fresh fuel gets to the carb and then it should run.

I have a CS 440 chainsaw. Accidentally placed chain oil in the gas/oil chamber. Cleaned it out quickly but now the chainsaw will not run. What else can I do?

The filter, fuel hose, and possibly the carb is now full of chain oil, pull the fuel pipe off the carb, with the fuel filler cap off blow through the pipe to clear any oiltrapped. now replce the filter on the end of the pipe, go through the start procedure, if it still will not start, remove the air filter and drizzel a small amount of fresh fuel oil mix straight into the filter elbow, this should start the engine, if it stops again repeat the process until it clears itself.

Check the fuel filter, air cleaner, and muffler for plugging. Check the fuel lines for decay or other damage. Make sure the chain is being oiled and that you can turn the chain by hand. Be sure to have fresh fuel mix and be sure to shake the container thoroughly before each tank fill to prevent oil starvation. Hope this helps!

As long as the line fits tight so its not sucking air you should be ok.. try changing out the plug if its old. Clean out the air filter too.. But the line should be ok as long as its tight..

I have a Echo chainsaw model 452Vl and am not able to start it.

Hi, It does have a filter of sorts but is on the pickup inside the tank and should not need changed. Drain the fuel mixture and check all of the plastic lines and primer bulb for cracks or kinks. Put in a fresh fuel mixture that has not been sitting, (They don't run on old mix) and try starting again. The thought process is that if it starts on the starting fluid it can only be two things, old fuel or no fuel. If the fuel change doesn't work it is probably not getting fuel thru the carb, these oil mixes gum up rather quickly and if it sat for awhile with fuel in it it may need the carb cleaned. Good Luck to you, hope this Fixsya!
