Question about Jenn-Air JCD2389G Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Hi- My freezer is working perfectly. It is producing it's normal temp and I can hear the fan working. However, I noticed yesterday that the refrigerator side is not cool anymore. It has not been cool for 24 hours. Are there any troubleshooting tips I can try before calling a technician? Thank you- Jeremy

    Hi Keith-

Here is the Model #: JCD2389GES

I have noticed that the temp in the freezer is now raising. So both the freezer and the fridge are warm. I can hear that the fan is working.

Also, I should mention that I have never changed the temp settings. I mention this because I do not think it is possible that parts have frozen.

    Thanks-

    Jeremy

Let's do a question and answer

Compressor area...located in the very back of the unit...against your wall. You will need to take off the bottom cover to expose it.

    Click on the link http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdir...

1.) Do you ever hear the compressor coming on? part number 1 on the print. If not ensure you have power going to it.

2.) If you do hear the compressor coming on will it shut off and then make a clicking noise?

If yes....unplug the unit...take off part number 4 the relay and shake it. If you hear it rattle then replace it.

3.) Is the condenser fan running? part numbers 14 and 15.

If not check for power to it. This needs to run whenever the compressor is running. If it is not running and you have power to it then replace the fan motor part number 14.

Here is the wiring diagram to check power checks with your muti meter.

    Click on the link http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdir...

As you can see the power cord from the wall outlet will go directly to your compressor. This is where to check for power first. Then the overload/relay. Then the condenser fan ( blue and orange.)

    Please post results.

If everything checks o.k. after you post results we will move on over to the freezer section.

By the way, how warm is the freezer? What is the temperature and has it maintained any temperature under 28 degrees?

Hi
Is your fridge compressor motor working and can you hear it turn on and off every hour or so. Not to be confused with the sound coming from the fan inside the fridge.
If the motor is working but neither the fridge or freezer compartment are getting cold, then there may have been a rupture during transport and gas has escaped.

Our freezer just apparently stopped freezing, but the refrigerator still works. It's a Frigidaire Gallery just purchased a few months ago. Suggestions?

Hello, Thank You for using FixYa. I will be helping you today. All the cooling comes from the freezer side. So if the fresh food side is working then the freezer is only producing enough to allow the temps to be around 38 degrees. Do you notice any frost on the freezer back wall? Its possible its a defrost issue. Can you hear the fan Running in the freezer when the compressor is on? If these all seem fine then I would say you have a sealed system issue. Either a leak or bad compressor. Since its only a few months old call for factory service it should have a one year warranty on parts and labor.
Thank You and please rate my answer if it was helpful..

LG Bottom freezer refrigerator Model LFC21760 does not cool

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages

Freezer working, not making ice; refrigerator not cooling

Look for excessive frost build up in the freezer, there may be a problem with the defrost cycle.

AbiH, the likelihood of frost inside the fan housing is high. You should manually defrost the unit. Unplug and use a hair dryer to melt as much water as possible. Be aware that hair dryers and water do not mix well! If it happens again, you may have low gas and require a service person.

Sounds like the fan motor in the freezer is bad if your not hearing it anymore.
