You should download the user manual here from SONY:

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-documents.pl?mdl=KDLV32XBR1&LOC=3

See page 42, 43 for SAP. Look for MTS/SAP button on the remote.

Press MTS/SAP on the remote (under the number buttons) to go between the 3 options of STEREO or MONO or AUTO SAP. Not all channels will have SAP (secondary audio program). Selecting stereo should eliminate any secondary audio.

There are many TV stations which broadcast in only Spanish. You can usually tell if the channel is targeted to a Spanish audience. However, any TV station can broadcast audio, if they choose to do so, in one or two different languages. Some TV stations send only English out, while others send out both English and Spanish for example. You as the end user, can decide on those channels which may have a secondary audio program, to hear only the English, or only the Spanish by using the SAP function on your TV. To make it somewhat more confusing, those channels which often send out a dual audio signal, do not always send out both audio programs, meaning you cannot always get the Spanish audio for example. Bottom line is you can control the audio you get.

Why the sound only on certain channels and some channels start speaking Spanish?

You most likely have the SAP (Second Audio Program) feature enabled. Many shows do not have this sound track and that is when you hear nothing. When the SAP is on, it is usually in Spanish for English-speaking programs. Check your TV remote for SAP and see if you can disable it.

What is theSAP button for? Why, when button is pushed, that the sound is muted on certain channels?

Sap is for secondary audio, some TV broadcasts contain english as well as another language, ussually spanish. If it is mute it probably thinks there is something else there but there is nothing. TNT ussually has it depending on your TV provider and people will hit the sap button by mistake, It's funny to listen to them freak out thinking TNT has gone spanish.

Sound

SAP is short for "second audio program" and is a way to send a second audio track along with the main one. In many areas stations use SAP to provide Spanish or other language sound for movies and other programs. If you have SAP turned on you don't know it until you tune to a channel where it's being used, and then you hear the other sound. Just turn SAP off using the remote control or TV menu.

Try going into the television, and changing the audio setting to stereo, it sounds like it set to SAP (second audio program).

You may have your SAP settings turned on in your VCR. Check your setup menu and turn SAP off SAP stands for Secondary Audio Program, it allows for bilingual sound if the station is transmitting a SAP signal. Thank you,

SAP change with no remote

The set is definately in the SAP mode, which will have some channels in spanish and some channels with no sound at all. You might be able to get an inexpenxive universal remote and go through the menu to return the audio setting to stereo, but if that does not work then you can order an original Sony remote by model number from Union Electronics at 800-648-6657.

Some channels have no sound some are in spanish

With your remote, go into the menu, find the audio setup and click off the SAP. Thats the Second Audio Program. Some Broadcasters send a second lanquage along with the regular audio. Someone must have been looking around or playing with the remote and turned on the SAP.. Good Luck PS please do not forget to rate this thread

No Sound on TV

I did not answer the original question you posed but the SAP is the acronym for Separate Audio Program and is used to provide spanish for instance on a show which is broadcast in both english and spanish. The problem is not all stations have audio on the SAP. If your audio processor is set to SAP and you switch to a channel which has nothing on SAP you loose audio. I'm guessing someone suggested this prior to this post. If you checked your TV and it is not on SAP that eliminates that. I would look at the audio circuit for problems. Either no power to the audion circuit, bad solder joints, blown output IC or possibly a blown speaker. I know the last one is remote but it does happen and it never hurts to check the simple problems first. Besides you aren't embarrassed later when you find out it was something simple. If you are going to check these issues out remember safety. Good luck.
