Sound takes up to an hour to come on, Mitsubishi 35'' tv

A $700 dollar estimate for a sound problem seems out of line - get asecond opinion (did some one look at it or just a guess). If the sound eventually comes on you probably have a connection (internal) problem or a intermittent part in audio section -cap o/p IC.
If you use a satellite or cable box can you hook your sound from that to an audio system thereby bypassing the TV?

I am losing my picture within 1 minute after light comes on.

Hi There,
Well, I wish it was that easy. Usually there is a temperature circuit with a thermistor or "Heat Sensitive" Transistor which only a technician could troubleshoot and detect. But, all is not lost yet, here is a simple solution that just might work: Open this thing up and take a feather duster and try to remove as much dust as possible. Gently drag the feather duster across the surface of the circuit boards. Do not use any pressure, you don't want to disturb the componants. If you have a little mini vac that would be great!
Just remove as much dust as you can without harming anything.
Hopefully, this will allow your TV to breathe and illiminate the overheating problem.
Have a great day!
