Question about Electrolux Vacuums

1 Answer

Hello, I have an Electrolux Guardian vacuum, model C134C. There does not appear to be any electrical current connection when plugged in and turned on. I plugged it in to different outlets but that didn't solve the problem. I have replaced the hose & elbow unit but that didn't solve the problem. Thank you in advance for your help.

It was helpful but I had already done that. It didn't solve the problem. There just isn't any power going into the machine at all. I was vacuuming, carpet (nothing wet), put a new bag in and the power just wouldn't turn on again. The indicator on the nozzle doesn't light up. I have purchased a new elbow and hose and there's still now power. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I have the same model. When the machine over heats, it trips a circuit inside and this turns it off to prevent further damage. After this has happened, you will need to push the reset switch in order to turn it on again.

There are two things that can cause it to over heat. One is string or debris caught in the beater bar that turns against the carpet. The other is not empting it.

Before you use it (everytime) you need to turn it upside down and pull all of the hair and string that is caught on the beater bar out. Take a pair of scissors if necessary to make sure that nothing is holding the bar from turning.

After doing the above, empty the bag and make sure that there is nothing packed or backed up in the unit.

After both of the above are finished, you will need to reset the machine so it will turn back on again. on the side closest to you when using it, on the bottom before you get to the floor, there is a small red plastic button. Push this button it a couple of times to re-set the machine.

Plug it in and turn it on. It should work. The only other thing that can ruin the motor in that machine is going over water. if it wont turn on after resetting it, then its possible that the engine got too hot and it might not be repairable.

You need to push the reset button in order for the power to come back on again.

The reset button is located on the side closest to you when vacuuming, near the floor above where the tube and elbow connect to the machine. It is read and hangs out a little bit. Press and hold the reset button then try plugging it in again. That should allow the power to go through the machine again.

If you found the reset button and pressed it and the power is still not going to the machine, please clarify that by going back to your post and again using the comment or reply link. I will send additional instructions to help repair this problem.

How do you make it blow air out? trying to make air blow out,i have the hose that has controls on it. will work to **** up but when i put it to blow out will not come on.

The Guardian Canister vacuums have a blow port under the filter. So you need to remove the filter (on the Guardian Ultra, you have to open the top of the vacuum) by lifting it up the forward. Then disconnect the hose from the normal suction end of the unit and plug it into the blower port. Now turn on the vacuum. If the hose is clogged, position the other end of the hose at the suction port.

For the Guardian canister, select the high, medium or low force for the motor. Then blow the dust out from under the furniture or use to fill an inflatable. Turn off the vacuum and replace the hose in the usual position and replace the filter when done.

If you are still unable to get the unit to blow out when connected to the exhaust port after attempting to clear the hose, separate the hose, wand and handle. Look down the hose for any object that might be creating a one-way valve. Remove the foreign object.Do the same with the other parts of the unit. Also replace the vacuum bag. If the bag is sufficiently full, the airflow will be reduced through the bag to the exhaust and cause the problem you describe.

The Electrolux Guardian Canister Vacuums are part of the Aerus line. The manuals for the vacuums are available here: . The Guardian Ultra is in the current model section. The Guardian is listed in the Older Model drop-down menu.

I hope this helps.

(many canister vacuums have a blower mode when you connect the hose to the exhaust (after the bag) instead of the suction side of the unit.)

Power nozzle N106M on our Electrolux Guardian has stopped workin

Start simplest always and work back to most difficult... so make sure you have power to the main unit, do you have a cheap voltmeter? If not they're cheap... Second check that connection plug is not stuffed with debris. Point is isolate whether it is the unit or attachment, most likely it's in the connection and repairable by you or used vacuum repair.

Don't know where to turn on the vacuum of the electrolux guardian. Bought it used. Can you help?

Usually these types of vacuums havve a foot operated switch that is part of the body and kind of blends in with the body of the vacuum, they may also have a switch on the handle.

Electrolux Guardian canister electrical problem

I believe there is a fused lead inside of the canister. Depending on where you connected your test light, you may have blown this fuse. I don't think you will have much luck finding aftermarket parts for this unit, so you may want to find an Aerus dealer. You can go to and use the dealer locater to find the closest store. Good Luck!
