There is a collection of sewage beneath the house from the kitchen sink, laundry waste pipe leaking into the crawl space.we were having heavy rains lately. there is a musty odor coming out through the foundation vent. Is there some kind of absorbent material to dry the crawl space. Do you think there is drain pipe leak?

Yes there is the best thing is Kitty litter, cheap and VERY absorbable too.. & has odor eating benefits too, use a bag or so of the stuff and wait a bit and apply more, this will help, then for the smell get a product called "Nil-odor" This will rid almost any bad smell..
as for the leak, then yes most likely you indeed have a leak.. it maybe because it's blocked up? you need to check this.

You will need to have two openings with a fan running to eliminate the odor and to dry it up quickly

Call a home waterproofer in your area to get an estimate on having bisquine laid down to prevent moister turning to mold inside your home. Shoes will show the mold first if not attened to by mid summer

Can you tie into a common dscharge pipe when plumbing a sanivite and saniplus?

I think it can be done , but it may be against the local code for your area. The obvious concern is back up of sewage in the sink, and washing machine.

What is a septic tank?

A septic tank is a key module of the septic system, a small-scale sewage handling system common in areas with no joining to main sewage pipes provided by local supervisions or private houses. Like TGWasteWater.com

What is the best humidity setting for a four foot high crawl space?

Depends on the cubic footage (length x width x height = cubic footage) and how damp it is. If you're not going to have to dump the collection tank (a drain hose is connected to the unit to run water out of the craw space and away from the house), I would run it on high for 24 hours and then lower it to medium for several days. After that, you should have a pretty good indication what it takes to keep the craw space dry. At least, until the next heavy, continuous rain storm.

If this is an on going problem, I'm not sure that a humidifier is the total answer. You need to look at the causes for this moisture (i.e) Are the downspouts carrying the water away from the house? Are the gutters and downspouts clogged with debris, causing the gutters to overflow? Does the earth around the foundation need to be regraded, so that water runs away from the foundation? Has the moisture barrier on the outside, underground around the foundation failed? Would installing an automatic sump pump in the crawl space be more efficient?

So, in addition to the dehumidifier, you need to look at the big picture and eliminate the cause(s).

Hope this helps to solve your problems.

There is no water coming out of any faucets in nor outside house temperature outside is 24degrees. pipes are frozen, but where? at the point of entry into house? should we shut off water supply? we have...

I would start at the point of entry and work from there. Increase temperature by any safe method. You can use radiant heaters for crawl space or where it is dry and not a fire hazard. Open faucets on hot and cold side of bathtub or kitchen sink slightly. Open cabinet doors and increase temperature in the house. I would only use heat gun or hair dryer directly on pipes unless you have galvanized steel or copper piping in open area and then use torch sparingly. If you think you know where it is you can install heat tape and insulation. Just be carefule and good luck. Thank you.

My sanivite 3 has a washer connected to the bottom inlet and a sink to the top inlet. when water is run from the sink the system will pump the water out, however when the washer is discharging waste the...

A washing machine discharges water water at a very high velocity and high capacity. This is far more waste water than the pump was designed to handle. The washer discharge must be connected to what's called an "indirect waste", that is, it must discharge into a laundry tub or sump, so that the excess can be stored until it can be taken by the pump. The specific code that governs this is in chapter 27 of the International Residential Code.

Also in the manufacturers instructions, they allow the discharge from a washing machine ,through an indirect waste. [sic] "The Sanivite is a drain pump that is ideally suitable for use in a basement apartment or anywhere in the house where additional fixtures are most wanted. It will pump waste water away from a variety of sources such as: a kitchen sink, laundry sink, washing machine ***(indirect connection)***, dishwasher, bar sink, etc."

This pump will never be able to handle the discharge directly and you need to provide a receptor to accommodate a washing machine. Is there any possibility of adding a laundry tub adjacent the washer and Sanivite pump?

each of those cables have certain temps they kick on at maybe they did kick on, heres an easier thing to do leave your faucet just barely trickeling a few drop of water thru them on the cold night saves money on electric as those cables are pricy on electric oh and open the faucet to trickle the closest to the well head hope this helps ya ps never insulate around the thermostats they will never have the right reading on temp as you are warming the thermo if the pipes are running thru the wall trickle your faucet instead really you must have just got this place is that right well the joys of owning a new home sorry but we all go thru it no big deal that's an easy fix

The twin tub connected to the washing machine doesn't drain.

The laundry tub does not have adequate drain size to handle discharge from the washing machine. In addition, the kitchen and laundry area piping may not be correctly vented.

You need to get a one way valve fitted in the pipe just before it hits the main waste pipe. This will ensure that as soon as any backpressure is exerted that the valve closes and your sink etc will not fill with waste. This is a potential health hazard to you so I would suggest it is fitted ASAP.
