Question about Samsung HT-AS720ST Theater System

Open Question

Samsung Home Theater HT-AS720ST Crackling and Popping in one speaker with intermittent volume change in all speakers. 1st repiar for same problem done under warranty. Replaced main board. Happened again 15 months later. No longer under warranty Ordered the main board AH92-02697A to repair it. How do I prevent reoccurance? Since it is such a common failure on this model. Does Samsung have a fix or policy associated with it? Are there any alignment or set up issues associated with the main board installation? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

SOURCE: crackling from surrond sound

I have a SONY home theater4.gif system, HT-C800DP, there is a crackling sound when playing DVDs - it is almost as if the unit overheats. Is there any solution to this? Sometimes I cannot even finish a DVD as the noise gets very loud.
Thanks,
Cindy

SOURCE: My Samsung HT-AS720ST (AV-R720) surround sound receiver started

The problem is caused by the PULSUS PS9829B digital audio processor. We ordered it in from a Samsung authorized service centre.
Problem is now solved. Unit works perfectly. If you have never tried working with surface-mount ICs I would skip it if I were you. This IC has over 100 pins on it. However the part is available from Samsung. Print this comment and take it to your locat service centre along with your receiver. They should be able to repair the board unless they are wussies and cannot do surface-mount work.

Disconnect everything but the speakers and evaluate the buzz. It may be coming from external hardware or loosely connected analog cables.

Sometime juts rotating the ac plug on one device eliminates the ground loop buzz.

I had this same issue about a year after I bought the product. Sent it back under warranty and about a year later, I have the exact same issue again. Never buying samsung receivers again.

IF it is out of warranty, you can open it up and look for loose connectors on the boards. It may be a poor connection that is visible. Otherwise it may be a connection problem that is hidden/internal. Bad solder connection on the board/speaker tabs, etc.

our started cracking and popping this morning. It seems from all the posts that it is always the right front speaker. With that kind of trend it can be traced back to mfg. Is there a recall, are they covering the cost?

System is samsung HT-TWZ415. all speakers work, not the sub

Check all of your connections, and make sure all cords are firmly connected.
Make sure if the subwoofer has a power switch, it is on, and if not, that it is likely to be faulty.
