Buy a VGA cable and connect it to the monitor. Then power the laptop up.

How do i manually switch my screen back to laptop after switching to another monitor ?

If your using a windows computer like Windows Vista, 7, or 8. Right click on your desktop and click screen resolution. It'll bring up monitor properties, you can click the other monitor plugged into your computer and set it as the default. If your graphics card supports it you could even click to extend displays and use both at same time, moving your mouse past edge of one of sides of your screen to move to other display.

-remove it from your computer -if you do have a spare desktop computer plug it to see if it will do the same thing -if same thing happens LCD needs to be replaced - if you will get a display from a 2nd desktop computer / There's something wrong with the RAM/VIDEO CARD of the 1st computer.

Hi, Just setting up this monitor with a new desktop computer. Message is coming up on the monitor 'Input signal out of range'. What does this mean and how can it be fixed? Best wishes, Giovanni.

It could be either your 'display setting' is not set right or the 'Screen Refresh Rate' is more than what your monitor can handle.

To solve this:
Step 1: Open your 'Display Settings' either by right clicking on the desktop or by opening up your control panel.
Step 2: Bring down the resolution to '1024 by 768 pixels'
Step 3: Press 'Apply'
If this did not solved the issue go to the next step
Step 4: Click on the 'Advance Settings' button
Step 5: Click on the 'Monitor' tab and bring down the 'Monitor refresh rate' to a 60 or 75 Hertz

This should fix your problem.

My newer flat screen monitor went black but works fine when hooked up to another computer and I have an older monitor that I hooked up and the older one works fine...??

That sounds like a display/resolution setting problem on your PC. I doubt there is anything actually wrong with the PC or the monitor, since both work with different combinations, so its most likely just a setting.

Some monitors don't display anything when they get a signal/resolution that is not compatible with their displays. I would try changing the display settings on your computer with your old monitor, then switch monitors and see if your newer monitor works.

Here's how to adjust the display resolution:
If in XP, right-click on the desktop and go to Properties, and select the tab for display settings and adjust/lower the resolution. If in Vista/Win7 right-click the desktop and select Screen Resolution/Display Settings and adjust it there.

My samsung 923 nw wont display anything!!

check to see if you get image when lowering the resolution, do this with yoru older monitor try to bring it to a basic 800x600 with 16 bit color depth. then switch monitors and see what happens. If this monitor is energy efficient you may want to check on the power savings settings for your computer.

My computer monitor has somehow turned its brightness all the way down, possibly due to me choosing a new screensaver which was already installed on my computer. Sadly, my monitor, an Emprex LM-1704...

Find yourself a dark room or wait for the night to come. The darkest monitor adjustment could somehow reveal some light when there are no other light source available.

You may also hook a conventional CRT monitor and make your changes (such as bringing your computer back to its original settings). The darkest adjustment in CRT monitor could still render discernible displays.
