You will probably have to re-flash your system. Take a kook at my TIP at: It is looking for apassword (WiFi Network Key) You have to double click on the little computericon down in the right tool bar area, the one with the two side radiating arcs, and possibly has a small red X under it. The red X indicates that it is NOTconnected. When you double click on that icon a window called RT28701 opens up,then you click on Wireless Information tab, then you cursor down to the name ofyour WiFi and high light it and click the connect box. Then another windowopens up called Network Properties. Uncheck "The key is providedautomatically" box. This will allow you to type in your "NetworkKey", the password that protects your network from outsiders. This"KEY" was set up when you installed the router on your servercomputer. If this does not work at first, turn the machine over on its back andusing a toothpick, insert it into the little hole about an inch diagonally fromthe right corner of the data plate, this will re-load a new copy of everythingincluding the WiFi RT28701 driver. sometime thisdriver gets confused. Possible that PC is hanging up as there is fault on the OS ( operating system) and so the windows XP must be reloaded. Use a recovery disc if you have one . So if you are able to get to the main screen then open the internet options in the browser and clean all the cookies, temporary internet files, defragment the drives and RESTORE the PC to an earlier set date.

You can use a registry cleaner like Advanced system care. Download from the site and check you system for corrupt files. Also use a good antivirus software which is active to keep your system performing without an attack on the OS. Remove all unnecessary programs installed which you do not use all the time and clean up the drives. This will free up the space and make your system faster.
If there is no response but the PC tends to work slower and occasionally hanging when a program is being executed then you might have to install the OS once again. Install the OS and then an antivirus before the drivers of the PC is installed.

This will take you to the system settings. 3 Go to page 3 and select "Internet". 4 Click "Connection Settings". 5 Click "None" to the right of "Connection 1". 6 Click "Search for an Access Point". 7 Look for an access point that has a gold lock that is unlocked. I got a used Dell Inspiron 700m, no internet

HI,
if the port has light, this means the computer is detecting the internet signal . The problem could be some settings on the internet explorer.Maybe the previous owner might have made customer settings.
Reboot the system and when you see the Dell Logo screen . tap on the f8 key slowly 5-10 times
Select safe mode with networking from the list
Select the default os and hit enter
Wait till system takes you to a login screen
Login as the adminstartor
Click on Yes
Now try connecting to the internet
If the same works , create a new user account .
How to create a new account ?
------------------------------------------------
1. click start >click control panel
2. Click on user account
3. Click on create new account
4. Restart the computer and login with the new account and try connecting
