HOW DO I GET MY PROGRAM ICONS DISPLAYED ON DESKTOP.IN .VISTA

I think it should be the same for vista.

I think you need to click right on desktop ...and select ..view..and click the show desktop icons ..try it ..and let me know if this solve the issue ..

In case you reinstalled it clean ..and this is the first time ..or you erased teh icons somehow..you just need to make new shortcuts ..
For the system icons..just click right on the desktop ..and select properties...and under desktop ..select desktop icons ..or change desktop icons..it is a link on the bottom ...of the window..selecting it will open a window where you can select the icons..and click apply ..
For windows 7 ...click right on desktop ..select personalize ..and in the left of the window select change desktop icons..and same thing ...tick the cases..and the main icons will be displayed..apply and OK ..
for the rest ..you need to make shortcuts ..from the start menu ..all programs ..one by one ...by clicking right on the program execution ..and select send to desktop ..
lets hope that this will not be needed..and it is a simple action like I explained in the first lines...

To resolve this behavior, turn on the Show Desktop Icons feature:
Right-click the desktop.
Point to Arrange Icons By.
Click/check Show Desktop Icons

Using the Desktop Context Menu
1. Right-click the desktop, point to View, and then click Show Desktop Icons.
2. A check mark will appear, indicating that desktop icons are displayed on your desktop.

Move your mouse to the bottom of the screen and right-click once. Then you should have a "Show Desktop" option or un-check the "Hide Desktop icons" Click that and all your icons should re-appear. Unless of course they actually deleted your icons :'

Go start/programs, open till you get the program (there may be many parts but what you want should have the familiar icon you were accustomed to) click and hold on the program and drag it to the desktop or and this is my favorite way, do the above but right click on the program then in the "right click menu" slide across to "send to" then in it choose "desktop (create shortcut)". Sometimes its better to do this than worrying where the missing icons went. Hope this is of some help, John

Try to uninstall and reinstall the display drivers. For the desktop icons, right click desktop->Arrange icons by->show desktop icons.

Your desktop is not being displayed, your Operating System (OS) must be corrupted.
What OS are you using?
If you are using windows OS (XP, Vista, Windows 7),
you can open your task manager by pressing Ctrl,Alt,Delete keys in that sequence,
the task manager will open, click on the New Task tab and a dialogue box will apear. Type Desktop in the dialogue box, then click OK for the desktop to be displayed.
A more permanent solution would be to perform a repair using your OS installation CD.

if you successfully install Mahjong games in default it automatically install in your desktop the game icons. But now a days, program/game makers asking your permission to install the icons in the desktop and shortcut icons in the task bar and if you un check those permission you cannot see a shortcut icons in your desktop.

try to see it in the START Menu Programs. look for the game if there's a drop down menu look for the game icon and right click it. if no drop down menu just right click it. and go to send to and click desktop and now the game icon is already displayed in your desktop.

if you can't see it in START Menu Programs. Please re install it.

Eight click on your desktop, Left click Personalize, On the left you will see Change Desktop Icons, click there and just check the icons you want displayed on your dektop. as for the programs that you dont have access to, goto my computer, then your c:\ drive, look for users and then look for the user name you were logged in with when you did the update you should then see a list of folder and one should be Desktop, go in there and the files should be stored in there.

hi if you right click your mouse on the center of the desktop a menu will come up highlight the one that says arrange icons by another menu will appear make sure that show desktop icons is checked to the left if is isnt check it by clicking on it and the icons will appear. hope this helps.
