How to Reset a Forgotten Windows Password

Your windows password seems to be the only one in your life that can't be reset with a simple email request, so its an issue of nail-biting frustration for most people. Thankfully, the coding community have been hard at working creating a disc that will get you back into your computer every time!
NB: If you already know how to burn an ISO file to a CD, please skip steps 1, 2 and 3.
NB: This method works for all Windows NT systems (Windows 97/98, Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7)
You Will Need:

Ten Steps to an Unlocked Account:
  1. Once you have downloaded the above files, install PowerISO and navigate to the folder where you have and extract this so that you end up with cd100627.iso
  2. Double clicking the file should launch PowerISO. If not, right click the file and select 'Open with...' and then select PowerISO
  3. Once in PowerISO select 'Burn', make sure you have a CD in the disc drive, and then hit 'Burn' again.
  4. Now you're ready to test the CD, so pop it into your laptop's disc tray
  5. When you first turn on your laptop, you should be greeted with an 'HP' logo. At this point you need to press/hold 'Esc' to enter the boot menu. (If this does not work, check the welcome screen to see what key you need to press)
  6. Once at the boot screen, select your CD-ROM device
  7. A bunch of text will scroll past and after it stops, hit enter.
  8. Now you'll just have to follow a series of menus to unlock your laptop!
  9. You are now presented with a fairly simple text-based menu which you may or may not be able to get through on your own. If you have only one partition on your hard drive (which most computers do by default), it would be my advice to navigate the menu as follows:
    - Type d, Press Enter
    - Type 1, Press Enter
    - Press Enter
    - By this point, the bottom of the screen should say --More--
    - Type r, Press Enter
    - Type 1, Press Enter
    - Type 1, Press Enter
    - Here, you will be presented with a list of usernames. Type the name of the one that you want to unlock.
    - Type 1, Press Enter
    - Type !, Press Enter
    - Type q, Press Enter
    - Type y, Press Enter
    - Type n, Press Enter
    - Press Ctrl-Alt-Del
  10. All done! You should now be able to log on without needing to type a password, but it would be wise to set a new one on first log-in.
Please let me know if there is any additional information that you require in your time of need.
