Even though the igniter glows it still could be causing the problem. The igniter needs to pull a certain amount of amps which then allows the gas valve to open. I would replace the igniter first and go from there, online you could get one for 20-30 dollars most likely. Use your model number and go hear to check which one you need.

Just because the ignitor is glowing doesn't mean it still isn't bad.you need an amp meter with a clamp on it,stick one of the wires into the clamp,if it's a flat ignitor it should read 3.2 amps,if it's round i believe it's 2.5 amps.if it doesn't get the correct amps it won't let the gas into the burner tube.you say the ignitors glow,do you mean the broil doesn't work also?if so you could have a bad gas valve or the clock could be bad, there's a computer board in the clock assy.on some of the machines.next time send the model number, open the bottom draw and you should see a tag with the model and serial number on the frame that the draw covers when it's closed.check this site out it should help you...... My gas oven (Frigidaire Gallery) is not preheating or coming up to temperature. The broiler and stove top burners work fine.

Most probable cause is a weak bake burner ignitor,if you can remove the floor of the oven and see a orange glow but within one minute thier is no flame the ignitor that glows is weak and needs to be replaced,if no glow at all ,if your capable find the 2 wires to the bake ignitor, using a volt meter set to AC volts there should be 120vac to the ignitor. If their is 120 vac and absolutly no glow the ignitor is cracked and needs to be replaced,if their is not 120 vac it could be the gas safety valve or control

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Oven won't light, but the stove top burners are fine. Don't smell any gas or any indication the oven is attempting to light....

next time send the brand name and model number so i can look up your machine,if it's a gas stove most likely it will be a bad ignitor, even if the ignitor glows it still could be bad,if the flame doesn't ignite and the ignitor is glowing change it out,if it isn't glowing pull out the ignitor and check it with a meter, common problem.

It looks as though the pilot for our Maytag oven is out. The burners are working fine. Could it be the thermocoupler, and if so, how do I identify it?

It is rather unusual for an oven these days to have a standing pilot, (and thus the Thermo Couple)

Are you sure yours doesn't have a glowing ignitor to light the gas?
Usually there is a separate ignitor and burner for broil, and a separate one for the Main oven burner-
Can you see the ignitor glow on one or the other burners?

If the ignitor is broken-- you can not get the burner to light

Do yo want to try changing the ignitor?

Let us know more about what you have--

MY MAYTAG OVEN WILL NOT TURN ON WHEN I SET THE ELECTRONIC DIGITAL THERMOSTSTAT LIKE SAY I PROGRAM IT TO 350 DEGREES,,, NOTHING HAPPENS,,, BUT WHEN I GO TO SET THE BROILER THE BROILER WORKS JUST FINE,,, I...

First I want to commend you for your giving us good information to start with!
So-- we know we have gas, and we know the Broiler Valve and ignitor works-- Good observation!

However-- we have no ignitor (No bright red/Yellow glow)-- like you go for the Broiler-- right?

Well, we can NOT get ignition on the main burner-- unless we have the ignitor for the main burner getting hot, and then the gas valve to that burner can light, and give you heat...

Soo-- Likely we have an ignitor failure for the Main burner---

Do you have a warranty on the stove?
Do you have a service person qualified to tackle this job?
There will be electrical work, and parts obtainment issues to deal with now---
I suggest you call the local service people for this stove, and tell that that you need to have the main gas burner ignotor replaced for this stove model number-- and see what they tell you.

Let me know if I can help more--

My oven works fine it just doesn't heat-up. I can hear ignition clicking but no fire from burners. A technican told me to purge the union above gas to get rid of air in the line. Thanks Louis

Personally I wouldn't describe an oven that doesn't heat up as working fine. You shouldn't have any air in your gas line unless this is the first time firing the oven, in either case the air in the gas line would work its way out eventually and the oven would light on its own.

Check to see if your ignitor is glowing before you hear the clicking, if the ignitor isn't glowing it needs to be replaced and is fairly easy to do so. If your ignitor is glowing you should check to make sure you are getting gas to the burner. The only way I would recommend checking this is with your nose, do you smell gas when the gas valve clicks? If you do then something is wrong with the burner, either dirty or the exhaust is too strong, or even gas pressure too low. If you don't smell any gas that doesn't necessarily mean no gas is coming out, at this point you should call a authorized service provider to take it over from here.

The oven burner will not ignite.

Because the glowbar is glowing does not necessarily make it good.
Turn off the gas to the stove. Remove the oven racks. Remove the bottom oven pan. Remove the flame spreader. This gives you access to the glow bar and gas valve.
Put a clamp on amp meter around one wire of the glowbar. Turn the oven control on to BAKE.
If the glowbar reads 3 amps or less, replace the glowbar ignitor.
If the glowbar reads good, check the burner tube for a white ash buildup. It can be cleaned with a wire brush. Look closely near the glowbar section of the burner.
Check all the wire connections for the gas valve.
If the glowbar is good and the ash deposits are gone and the oven still will not ignite, the next step is to replace the gas safety valve.

Gas stove the burners are working but the oven is

Hi, The ignitor in the oven does not spark. It glows and has to pull enough amps to open the safety gas valve. The most common issue with these ovens is the ignitor. It can glow red but not be strong enough to open the valve. Remove the bottom panel in the oven and you can see the ignitor.
I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Hi, There is a good chance the ignitor is bad. Even if it glows, it could be weak enough that it will not open the gas valve. It is very a common problem with the gas stoves.
I would change the ignitor.

KENMORE GAS STOVE OVEN LOWER BURNER WON'T WORK

Most likely a hot-surface ignitor has failed. If it doesn't consume enough current, the gas valve won't open. It's usually a fairly easy fix, once you gain access to the ignitor and have a new one to replace it with. Make sure you unplug the range...

Amana arg7800ww oven will not come up to temperature.

Your gas valve has a thermocouple circuit that will not let gas flow until the ignitor is hot enough. A failed ignitor can still glow but not be hot enough to open the gas valve. Replace your ignitor.
