Try removing the battery and leave the machine connected to the AC and try to boot again. The battery is a Li-ion and has a built in safety chip that stops the battery from charging when the battery is drained too low. This prevents the battery from rapidly charging and causing a fire in the battery. If this works then you have to replace the battery if you wish to make it portable. It will run without the battery in it.

Magnavox 37MF23ID, would not turn on. Power button only blinks (green light). We have switched power cords and nothing happens. No picture, no sound.

if the power light comes on but the screen stays black, then your TV might be on the wrong input Channel. for example: you switch inputs when you play games or watch dvds vs. watching regular tv. Try to change the input

Power light comes on but nothing happens

What type of laptop? What operating system?

Laptops don't boot for the following reasons: 1) Bad Power Cord. 2) Bad DC Power Jack where the power cord plugs into the laptop. 3) Static Charge Buildup. 4) Bad Motherboard.

The above 4 reasons are when you press the power button and absolutely nothing happens. You hear no fans running, no disk drive running, no one time clicking sound on the CD Drive and No light for a second or two when the CD drives click. In the case of a motherboard issue sometimes you will hear beep sounds or see blinking lights. Those beep sounds and blinking lights tells the technician what is going on with your motherboard and why it will not boot. If you see the blinking lights or hear beeps count them.

So you have a power light which means your power cord and dc power jack is good. So lets see if you have a static charge buildup.

Remove the Power Cord and the Battery from the laptop, then Press and Hold the Power Button for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds put the power cord back into the laptop, but leave the battery out. Press the power button to see if it boots. If it does you had a Static Charge Buildup and it's ok to put your battery back in. If it does not you more than likely have an issue with your motherboard.

I have an Aspire 4520 laptop. When I turn it on, the green light around the power button lights up, but nothing on the screen. There is power to the system, because the DVD tray opens and closes like it's...

most likely a motherbaord problem.

unplug power cord, take out the battery.

hold power button for approx 90 secs.

try to power up the laptop again.

if this fails then try a new power cord, that could be also faulty and not regulating the correct power output

Pushed the on button, the green light comes on,

Green light comes on, what about other indicator lights? Is there activity like fans humming. Try to take out the battery and power up using the ac adapter only.

Hi, I own notebook Aspire 5570. I have problem to turn my NB on. When I push 0/I button, nothing happened. My friend checked adapter and battery, both are OK.

Hi,
Please try the steps below..

1 Disconnect the battery and the charger
2 Let it sit for 1-2 minutes.
3 Press and hold down the power button for 30 seconds.
4 Conncet the charger (don't connect the battery yet) and try to start by pressing the power button.

Also listen carefully for any beep sounds if you hear beep sound then the rams could be defective otherwise the mother board seems to be defective.

I have a brand new acer aspire one. A moment ago, when I wanted to open it, I saw that the green light on its top right, that is, at its "start" button was on, and the battery was a bit displaced at one...

Most likely your laptop is going into sleep mode. Lots of them do not like sleep mode if nothing happens when you push the power button try to hold it down for about 5 sec. your computer should power off and then you can start as normal. If this problem persists change the options in your control panel to turn sleep mode off. That should solve it.

Either the new power supply you purchased is not functioning correctly. But, assuming it is now that you are getting some form of power to your PC, it is very likely the motherboard. Whatever fried your old power supply (or it could have just been the power supply itself) most likely fried your motherboard in the process. Probably not the CPU since the MB can't even post.
