After checking with Dyson, it appears it can be fixed but depending on the age, it might be more cost effective to just buy a new one. There are not a lot to the dyson vaccums to repair. Plugging the vac into double the voltage would have fried the motor and that will need to be replaced. There is not reset or surge protector. With shipping and replacement of the motor, we would recommend a new vac. Good luck and sorry!

check out this web site for some possible other fixes before buying a new one:

Can I use a 22.2v 1.5Ah battery on my Dyson hand held cleaner ,note original battery was 14.8v 1300mAh

yes
if you want to burn the motor out
common sense would dictate that the motor is wired for 14.4 volts so any voltage higher than 15 volts will damage the unit
I imagine you meant to ask could you use a 14.8 volt 1.5ah battery in place of the 1.3ah battery---yes
the ah rating only means that it runs for longer and takes longer to charge
it is the voltage that is critical

Best Upright Vacuum You Can Buy!!

Paying a high price for a vacuum does not translate into best performance. My daughter purchased a Dyson (over $700.00) and after considerable goading, she accepted the challenge I had posed. Clean her carpet with her Dyson until she was satisfied that it was clean and then use my Kenmore SensorClean (no longer available by that name and over 10 years old) over the same area and see the results for herself. After the test, she stated she could feel the difference on her bare feet and immediately purchased the Kenmore Elite Bagged Upright Vacuum Cleaner ($279.00). The Dyson is now collecting dust (on the outside). With a build-in fiber-optic dirt sensor, you don't have to guess when the carpet is clean, the vacuum lets you know via the lights. Its suction power is second to none, the extra long cord lets you cover more area without having to change outlets and the direct-drive means no belts. You have 30 days on any purchase to return it, so try it for yourself, you may soon be purchasing a new vacuum that is worth every penny.

How can I tell if my Dyson DC 35 cordless uses 220 volt as power supply to change battery. The one I purchased is advertised to do so. This is because I purchased it to use in the Philippines

Your devide should have the indications on electric input on a small plaque. Actually, it it's cordless, it works with a rechargable battery so most probably you should look at the charger unit. Probably it's 110/220V and has a swith somewhere,
Don't you have a user's manual?

Read here, might give you some clue:

Why won't my dyson dc14 animal to turn on

I have received many dysons for repairs citing the same fault. 99% have the motors 'open circuited'. Simply put, this means that the motor windings have broken and the circuit no longer has continuity and therefore will not work. The motors do not give any indication and do not smell, they simply faulter. Without testing your unit I cannot say for sure, but, that would be my guess. Sorry, Cheers.

120v Dyson DC41 plugged into 240V

You could take it to a Dyson repairer and get a quote.
I suspct it would not worth repairing and converting to 240 volts. Most likely the motor needs replacing and possible other electrical components.

Shorted at the outlet

Dyson company is aware of switch failures in their vacuums. It is a engineering flaw and even if your Dyson is no longer within the warranty period, call them and they may replace the switch for you for free. Do not use the vacuum!!! You can shock yourself or start an electrical fire.

Dyson dc14 vacuum cleaner ,the power, off-on switch does not work

Take it back - the power on switch button sounds like its being tempramental and it shouldn't do that. It would have to be repaired.
