I found this solution:
This is a problem you won't be able to fix. LG knows about it. Give them a call. They sent a tech out who fixed my TV. They have to replace the whole mainboard. The tech said what happened was that they received the wrong capacitors from Mitsubishi, and they are shorting down, and once they are shorted, the TV has no filtering, and eventually dies... They have since changed the design of the mainboard, and is supposed to have a little better performance as well.

Did they charge you for the repair? It seems like it's their issue and they should cover it.

The tv manual control buttons board like POWER,MENU,INPUTS,CHANNELS - +,VOLUME - + could be bad and causing this problems.Take the tv aparts, unplug the connection that plug of the mamual pc board functions, the tv will work as normal only no manual buttons functions,if the Menu screen stop poping up,than u know the manual control buttons board is bad must be replace. If Menu it still poping up,than u have a bigger problems, the tv Tuner signal board is the cause and the problems. That the board, that take in the incomming broadcasting cable wire is the problems.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy those refurbishes boards like the manual control buttons board or the tv Tuner signal board.

The TV menu options keep popping up aprox. 15 mins after turning the TV on.

Do a reset to this set, and then check. There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Menu/screen resolution/contrast box keeps popping up on screen.

By what your describing, the board in the monitor that allows you to make changes to the display is going bad (sounds like the settings button). If it were a notebook you might be able to get a board replacement (just an example I know notbooks dont have this feature in the lid). Since it seems that your display is for a desktop, I dont think it would be easy or inexpensive to get a replacement board. You will probably have to get a new monitor. If you want to fix it yourself, pull the monitor apart and get the board out. Try an electronics cleaner and put it back together. If it works, great. If it doesnt, take the board back out and take the board to an electronics (tv) repair shop and see if they can solder in a new button. If that doesnt work your back to buying a new monitor. Hope this helps...

Config screen keeps popping up

A friend of mine had the exact same same problem. I think I fixed it, because it has been 2 hours, without the menu popping up. You need to open the monitor:

- Place it face-down on a flat surface
- Remove the cover of the hinge by gripping it with both hands and gently squeezing and pulling.
- Undo the 4 screws and remove the stand (base)
- Undo the four screws tha hold the cover down (4 corners)
- Use a flat screwdriver to seperate the 2 halves (I used 2, a small one to lift the back, a bigger one for leverage)

You will see a small PCB, fastened by 3 screws, at the bottom (where your menu+on/off buttons are) with a ribbon connection to the screen. Next:

- Unscrew the PCB, and gently lift it out.
- Clean the microswitches and the ribbon cable connection.
- Reassemble the monitor.

To clean microswitches and the connection, I used Kontakt Video 90 spray. There must be sprays on the market where you are. It's basically an alcohol-based cleaning spray. Good for cleaning video/tape/floppy heads, CD/DVD lenses, memory modules, etc.

Good luck!

Is this a plasma TV ? If so remove the back cover of tv and unplug the cable that plugs into the IR board from the SSB that receives the signal from the remote. If it stops you panel is causing interference with the signal. If it doesn't your problem is in you SSB. you might see if there is a software upgrade offered by the producer of that TV.

Menu keeps popping up

Never a good idea to clean with any spray cleaner. The cleaner does get down in the button bar and cause corrosion and shorting along ribbon cable. Use screen wipes for computer monitors only on TV's and any type of monitors. You can remove the back of the case. And remove the button board and clean with a cue tip and alcohol along ribbon cable.
