Unless, it's the wind blowing the flame out, I'd say the Thermocouple needs to be replaced. This is based on what you said, " have to wait until it cools to relight." The reason for that, is that the burner control valve has to reset itself. You can also check the pilot and pilot orifice for obstructions. Blowing it out with a can of compressed air with a straw nozzle (like you clean your computer with) may also help solve the problem. As insects like to build nests in these heaters, when they are not in use.

Endless Summer Patio Heaters are manufactured by Blue Rhino under the name Uniflame and Endless Summer. You can purchase any necessary parts from them online, if necessary.

Hope this helps you to solve your problem.

Pilot light lights and stays lit until you turn the temp up. Burner ignites for a few seconds and then everything goes out and you have to wait about an hour to relight it

Sounds like this is the gas regulator giving the the problems, i would call a local plumber to service this . gas and flame is very dangerous.

The pilot light won't stay lite

Flame is way too high on pilot . blocked injector or hole on injector is too big . Being sucked off by main burner .

I used red kerosine and now it only burns about 5 min. before quitting.

Make sure the unit is almost out of fuel. Take it outside where the wind won't blow on it. Start up the heater, and set it on 'high'. Now you just wait until it runs out of fuel and the flame burns out. The wick is made of fiberglass and won't burn. Only the tar the kerosene leaves behind will be consumed when it runs out of fuel. After this first burn off, wait 15 minutes and try to relight the burner to get any last fuel that was in the lower part of the wick. Note: the heater should still be out of fuel. Let it burn until it goes out again. Now check out the wick. It should be nice and clean. If not, what is left on it should brush of or be able to be crushed by your fingers. Refuel and try out the unit. It should work as normal now. This procedure produces fumes when the tar burns off, so make sure you do it outside!
