Question about Sony PSPgo Black Console

1 Answer

My psp go battery ran dead I am assuming because it was about out of battery, and now it will not start again or charge. I have had this psp for about six months now, and it has little to no damage. ear pods were plugged in at the time of the incident.

If the battery was completely dead, then you either have an immense power drain (unlikely) or your battery or alternator are faulty.
When you say you replaced the battery. Was that with a brand new one?
Assuming your battery is fine and fully charged, then the vehicle should start.
If the vehicle starts, then check your instrument cluster for a charge warning indicator.(typical red battery sign). If this is on, then your battery is not being charged.
You can also check with a multimeter across your battery terminals when switched off. You are looking for a voltage around 12.6 volts.
With the vehicle running, run the same test across the terminals. A healthy alternator should be charging at anywhere around 14Volts.
When running, if the battery voltage is constantly dropping, then you have a faulty charging circuit.

I was using my psp while it was charging and the charging light turned off, so i naturally assumed that it was fully charged. But a few minutes later the battery died and it wont charge when i plug it in....

Have you tried to remove the battery and put it back in and try to turn it on. Try removing the battery and putting the charger in and starting the PSP. If it starts, it might be the battery. If it doesn't, it's either the plugin for the charger or the PSP is just dead. If it does start with the charger, try putting the battery back in, if it charges awesome. If it doesn't the battery might be dead.

If the terminal connections are good and tight and it has a good ground then it appears the battery would be at fault. To be sure, charge the battery with a charger on a low setting over night and test it again.

Have you tried removing the battery and run the PSP off the mains? If it works then, the battery may be faulty. You can get a new battery from most major retailers of games.

PSP CHARGING PROBLEMS

The way to properly break in a lithium Ion battery is to run it dead before you recharge it. Then fully recharge it and run it until it's dead again. Do this about 3-5 times and then the battery is properly broken in. If you charge it before it dies on a new battery you can build what they call a "memory" where the battery thinks it's fully charged however it's only maybe half charged and you will lose alot of life out of your battery. So make sure you properly break it in.

Battery Or Charging Problem.

Have you updated your firmware recently? Check your PSP to make sure there aren't any loose connections. If you're comfortable with it, you could open it up and make sure the plug for the charger didn't come loose somewhere. It may just need a touch of solder to put it back into place.
