The general IP addresses for routers are

192.168.0.1
192.168.1.1
192.168.2.1

unless of course someone has changed it from default

SOURCE: why doesn't my computer connect to the linksys site?

Hi,
Don't type it in the google bar, but instead the address bar located in the top left. Also make sure that you have the correct address for your router. It may be 192.168.0.1.

My wireless router wont work

You need to (temporarily) hook a computer up to your router using an ethernet cable to set it up properly so you can send out a wireless internet signal with it. To connect to your router with a computer simply open your web browser and type in the router's address in URL web address bar. Consult your router's documentation to determine the exact address for your model. Note that you do not need a working Internet connection for this step.

My wii sucks and wont connect to our internet

Try to change the router channel number. Nintendo suggests to put it on ch 7 or 11. You can do this from a computer that is connected to the internet through the same router. Open up a browser an in the address bar type in your default gateway to login into your router and change the options. Each router is different and might have different default gateways. For example Netgear routers usually have the default gateway 198.168.1.1 but others will be different. You can find your default gateway by:

WinXp
1.Click start
2.Click run
3.type cmd - enter
4.type ipconfig - and it will display your info.

Win7
1.Click start
2. type cmd in the search bar and when you see cmd.exe click it once (usually the top find)
3.then type ipconfig - and it will display you info

After you find your default gateway number type it into your browsers address bar, no www or http needed. Just type it as it is.

Each router's configuration page is different so I would suggest that you consult your manual on how to change the wifi channel, or broadcast channel, or even radio channel. All of those sould be terms that are used. Hope this helped.

Wireless router wont connect to the internet

this would be mine that no computer is connecting to the Internet right now?

here's what we need to do. We need to identify first what Internet connection type you have in there.

have checked connection on the network as well, first and foremost - modem-router-computer is the connection you have.

For cable connection, you need to do a mac cloning on the computer

For DSL connection you need to have a PPPoE connection type on the router

For cable connection:
> access the router setup screen -
> on your IE - address bar 192.168.1.1
> no username and password is admin
> on the setup tab there is a mac clone service
> enable it and hit the clone button
> save the settings after

For DSL connection:
> access the router setup screen -
> on your IE - address bar 192.168.1.1
> no username and password is admin
> under setup tab - look for internet connection type
> set it to PPPoE connection
> try to connect and save the settings there.

what does it say? how many bars of singles do you have?

you may be connected, and it may have some bars of connection, but i think, that it is saying that you are limited or no connectivity? then that means that you are typing in the wrong network key that it need to "talk" to the computer and back to the router.

what you have to do is to connect to the router directly, open a internet page with that connection, type in the address bar, "192.168.1.1", by default, the user name blank, and the password is: "admin." you then go to the wireless tab, and under that tab, click. "security". type in something that you would remember in the passphrase box, and then click "generate passphrase." use the chart to coordinate where your network key is, then that is your network key that you must use in order to connect to the router, with a vaild internet connection.

i hope this helps, but i would like more information about the problem next time please.

Wont let me type in internet addresses- only accepts numbers

My best guess with the limited info given is that your settings on your computer are somehow not right. My best guess is your IP address is not correct. When you right click on my network places and go to properties you should see a list of connections. Double click on the one you believe is your internet. Click on the support tab and at the top it should say next to address type "assigned by dhcp" not "manually assigned". Hope this helps.

Wont go to websites when Itype words- only accepts numbers

Open Internet Explorer, under the tools tab, select "Internet options". Once there, select the "Connections" tab. At the top you will see, "To setup and Internet connection, click "Setup", click on "Setup", once there, click "next", On the next page, make sure "connect to the internet" is selected and click next. On the next page click, "Setup my connection manually", click next. On the next page select(Make sure it reads exactly as follows), "Connect using a broadband connection that is always on", click next. On the next page, click "finish". That should do it.
