Question about Intermatic Hardware & Accessories

Need a replace knob for Intermatic Timer 885L.

1 Answer

885L is a UL number and not Intermatic model number.
You probably have mechanical dial-type timer with red and turquoise trippers.
Likely you have one of the consumer outdoor timers showing on following page:
http://www.intermatic.com/products/timers/consumer%20outdoor%20timers/electromechanical%20timers.aspx

Dials and knobs are not available for Intermatic outdoor timers.
You can buy trippers, and some box-type models have separate clock motors

I just bought the same switch online but it doesnt have the UL number engraved on back like the original one. All the other numbers are the same though. Is this a problem?

How to remove a Intermatic 30 Minute Spring Wound Timer FF30MC

10-22-12
FF30 Intermatic timer: The turning knob pulls off.
(With some really old models, 1960s, there is a small set screw on the fat end of knob.)
Under the knob is a small hex nut that twists off to remove plate.

I have an Intermatic 4 function Air Switch with Timer RC2343PT for my pool and spa blower switch. The timer no longer turns off at night. I have to manually turn the breaker off each night and turn it on...

You might need new trippers?
Problem is not fully clear.
Can't tell what is new, and what is not working. Add a comment.

You have a new timer with same problem as old timer.
And you have a new control box and switch.
At your new house.
You have RC2343PT air switch, likely with PB913N84 24-hour timer module with manual override knob.

http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/Intermatic-PB800-PB900-timers.pdf
http://www.poolandspacontrols.com/~/media/Files/PoolAndSpaControls/Products/Instructions/RC2403RT.ashx

The RC2343PT air switch operates a pool-n-spa blower switch.
Pool and spa blower successfully turns on-and-off with circuit breaker.

Did you install a new PB913N84 timer module?
Are both ON-and-OFF trippers present? Are the 107TN222 and 107TN221 on-off trippers worn down and need replacement?
Does the timer dial rotate and keep good time?
What happens when you manually rotate the timer dial clockwise two rotations? Does the blower turn on-and-off?
Have you checked wiring terminals for signs of loose or burned connections?

Add a comment with more information for possible additional help.

Broken press on knob for my commercial spring wound timer. Would like to replace with a metal one if possible. Renee

Intermatic makes replacement plastic knobs, but I have not run across a metal knob.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Intermatic-trippers-and-parts.html#FD-knob

Since the plastic knob sells for $3-4, and probably is not a high volume seller, there would not be much incentive for industry to make a knock-off imitation of Intermatic knob out of more costly material like metal, let alone have a viable market outlet for that product.

I have a wall-switch Intermatic Timer Model 885L that has become too stiff to turn itself off automatically. Can these be lubricated by WD-40 safely???? Or what is best fixit???

I am unable to identify Intermatic 885L

Add a comment with clear description of timer so I can identify and help.
With mechanical dial timers, once the motor begins to slow down, then motor overheats and burns out. This is true for all electric motors, and eventually all electric motors stop working.
Power pack yard-light transformers, in-wall timers and plug-in type timers are not repairable, even with WD40, because the motor has already overheated.
These timers are replaced with new timer.
However if you have a power pack, since this timers is expensive, you can buy cheap plug-in timer, set power pack to override, and then plug power pack into cheap timer.

With direct wire mechanical box-type timers that are used for parking lot lights and pool pumps, for example T100 series 120V and 240V timers, the clock motor is replaceable. These small motors cost $16 to 60 depending on clock.

Again, add a comment with clear description of timer so timer can be identified for certain.
I can also post the manual if available, and post links to sellers of similar/same timer if replacement if necessary.

HOW DO YOU REMOVE THE KNOB FROM THE 15 MINUTE INTERMATIC TIMER SWITCH SO YOU CAN REMOVE THE SWITCH PLATE.

The knob pulls off.
Use a screwdriver or fingernail file to pry up.

Some really old timers, the knob attaches with a tiny screw located on the knob.

Remove Intermatic 60 min. wall timer face plate only from wall

That knob should just pull straight off. Check to make sure there isn't a tiny set screw on the side, but otherwise you can pull it off and remove the cover plate.
