I have purchased a Dyson and when setting it up noted that there should have been a charger this was not in the box please advise

If it's a rechargeable model, then a charger will be required. If you are sure that it's not in the box then you will need to return it.

My stick vacuumed won't charge, the blue light comes on for only 10sec

You didn't give make model or serial number, so the information is going to be somewhat generalized:
Most charging systems go through what is basically a P.O.S.T.-a power on self test. This checks that the charger is working correctly, that the power coming in is correct, and that the battery needs a charge AND is ready to accept a charge-IE NOT overheated, or frozen. If any of them fail, ESPECIALLY the temperatures, IT will shut down, This is to prevent explosions! (THINK: a certain brand of phones and most hover-boards!)
What you can do: UNPLUG the charger from the vac, and the wall. Wait 24 hours. Try again. If it works, it was likely an overheated battery. If not, possibly the charger. Hard to say if it's worth repair, but that would be the place(s) to start.

Will not charge the charging light is flashing

I'm not familure with your device but this is battery charging101. For a battery to charge the input voltage must be higher than the operating voltage of the battery. An example of this is your car. You have a 12 volt battery in your car and the alternator applies 13.4 volts or so to charge it. It is the same with any battery charger be it phone, laptop, chordless drill or small AA,AAA,C,D battery charger, that being said is the Dyson charger a seprat device? If so it can easily be tested at Batteries Plus, Any big box auto parts store, any high school electronics class. Check your owners manual it should give you the operating voltage, check that against what you discover about your charger. The charger only needs higher voltage output than the battery it doesn't have to bee a lot more. If you have further ? Email me at bret610@icloud.com good luck. Ps, you can by a reasonably accurate and easy use volt meter at W-mart for under $20. I am attacking video from u tube as to usage it's not difficult and well worth the money.

When I put the battery on the charger the light on the charger stays on for little awhile the it starts to blink, but when I try to use the battery it is not charged. So I am not sure if I need a new

Hi there! It sounds like you have our Linx stick vacuum or hand vacuum model. Plug only the charger into an outlet, the blue light on the charger should flash once. If the light on the charger flashes once then the charger is fine. Try resetting the battery by following these quick steps below.

1. Remove the battery from charger or cleaner
2. Unplug the charger
3. Insert the battery into the vacuum and turn the unit on for 30 seconds (even if it has no power)
4. Remove the battery
5. Plug the charger into an outlet, make sure the light on charger blinks blue once.
6. Insert battery into charger

The light should be a solid blue, indicating the battery reset worked. If so, allow the battery to charge for 3-4 hours, completely deplete battery on your next use and re-charge. If the light on the charger is still blinking, your battery will need to be replaced. I have included a link where you may go to purchase a replacement battery if needed. Hope this helps!

Why doesn't my battery charge? Why doesn't the charger's light come on?

Hi Suzanne! Follow these steps to check that your charger and battery are working properly.

1. Unplug the charger for at least 30 seconds.
2. Plug the charger back in. The blue light on the charger should flash once.

If the blue light flashes once this is an indication that the charger is still functioning properly. If the blue light does not flash, the charger will need to be replaced. Follow this link to order a replacement charger. LiNX Battery Charger

3. Place the battery in the vacuum and turn it on for 30 seconds. (even if it does not turn on or powers off)
4. Turn the vacuum off.
5. Remove the battery and place it in the charger.

If the light on the charger is solid blue this is an indication that the battery has been reset. Allow 3-4 hours for the battery to fully charge. The blue light will start to blink slowly to indicate the battery is fully charged.

If the light on the charger is flashing blue or there is no light at all this can mean that your battery needs to be replaced. Follow the link to order a replacement battery. LiNX Lithium Ion Battery

Hope this helps!
