What did you have in mind?

Just a graphics card, to give the same basic graphics quality the computer came with, or much better graphics?

http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/th/en/ho/WF10a/12454-12454-3329740-64546-64546-4269976.html

You didn't state specifically, as to which model number p6600 you have.

http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Lookup?h_pagetype=s-001&h_lang=en&h_client=s-s-r2515-1&h_cc=th&h_query=HP+Pavilion+p6600+Desktop+PC+series

(It's on the back of the computer in a white Service Tag.
State the Product Number -> P/N )

I'm just going to pick the first one out of the list, for an example.
All model numbers should use the same motherboard, but even if not; they all will have a PCI-Express x16 slot for a graphics card.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02558771&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=4278026

Coming up from the bottom of the motherboard, there are 3 black PCI-Express x4 slots.

Right above the top one is a longer black PCI-Express x16 slot.
This is where a PCI Express graphics card goes.

Examples of PCI Express slots,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:PCIExpress.jpg

The top example is a PCI-Express x4 slot.
Next one down is a PCI-Express x16 slot.
Next one down is a PCI-Express x 1 slot.
Next one down is a PCI-Express x16 slot.

The last on at the bottom, is a PCI slot.

As you can see, color of slot does NOT matter.
WHAT, the slot is, does.

{Plus the PCI-Express x16 slot examples shown, have a 'Pinch Lock' on the right side.

Your motherboard has a different style lock.
The lock looks as though you press down on it.
Nope.
Gently pull up a little, when installing or removing a graphics card }

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pci_express

You can use a PCI Express graphics card, based on the
PCI Express 2.0 technology, or PCI Express 2.1 technology, or PCI Express 3.0 technology.

The only drawback you have is the Power Supply.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02594653&cc=us&destPage=product&dlc=en&lc=en&product=4278026#N90

250 Watts

For some puny graphics cards, you might get away with having a 300 to 350 Watt power supply, but if I had to replace it; I wouldn't go less than 500 Watts.

You should have at least 10 percent more power (Power Supply), than what is needed. It's easier on the Power Supply, and better all around for the computer system.

A computer ONLY uses the power it needs, and no more.
Surfing the internet? About 100 Watts.
Playing an intensive game, and you have a 500 Watt power supply?
Then the computer may use Up To 500 Watts.

[The minimum required power, stated for a graphics card; is based on the entire computer system, and not just the graphics card.

Graphics card designers base the minimum power requirement, on a test computer system they have set up.

Has the most powerful Processor available, for that test system motherboard.. At least 4GB of Ram Memory.
2 optical drives. 2 computer case fans. Gamer style motherboard ]

Looking for advice on a video card. Would a radeon hd 5750 run on c51gm motherboard

1) You have a PCI Express x16 expansion slot, for a graphics card.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813135010

(Orange)

A) 1GigaByte of graphics memory which is GDDR3. (It is GDDR3, not DDR3; trust me)
B) 800MegaHertz Core Clock
C) 1600MHz Memory Clock
D) API's - DirectX 11
Open GL 4.1
Shader Model 5.0

2) The motherboard chipset is an Nvidia GeForce 6100 - Northbridge, and an Nvidia nForce 410 - Southbridge.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GeForce_6_Series#GeForce_6100_and_6150_series_chip_specifications

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_Nvidia_graphics_processing_units#GeForce_6_.286xxx.29_series

Nvidia GeForce 6100/nForce 410, came out 2005.

3) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Motherboard_diagram.svg

The Northbridge chip of the motherboard chipset, handles the Faster capabilities of a computer.
Processor (CPU), Ram Memory, and HIGH-speed graphics.

AGP technology, and PCI Express technology, ARE HIGH-speed graphics.

Using a PCI slot for a graphics card, or using Integrated Graphics; is NOT high speed graphics.

(As you can see in the Motherboard Diagram, the PCI bus is controlled by the Southbridge chip. The Southbridge chip handles the Slower capabilities of a computer.

Means anything connected to the PCI bus, such as a graphics card in a PCI expansion slot; is handled by the Southbridge chip.
Integrated graphics also )

4) PCI Express came out 2004.
Went from PCI Express 1.0 version to PCI Express 1.1 version.
In 2007 PCI Express went to the 2.0 version. PCI Express 2.0.

Your motherboard, IMHO, uses the PCI Express 1.1 technology.
This is why I recommend a graphics card based on the PCI Express 2.0 technology. (For one)

PCI Express 2.0 is Backward Compatible, with PCI Express 1.1
A little iffy if it's PCI Express 1.0

I have seen a lot of problems crop up with users trying to use a graphics card, based on the PCI Express 2.1 technology; on a motherboard based on the PCI Express 2.1 technology.

That's why I recommended PCI Express 2.0

PCI Express 3.0 is supposed to overcome that, (Use on a mobo with PCI-E 1.1), but I have no real world knowledge, (Hands on), and no input from the 'outside'. (Internet/world)

5) You need at least a 400 Watt power supply. Don't have at least a 400 Watt? Time to move up.

I have Windows 7 32bit and a 6200 512 AGP video card. My motherboard has 8X capability and set up properly in the bios. I have downloaded the latest Nvidea drivers for the card and they installed OK. When...

@rick_pere159

The reason for this is that your AGP video card only support DirectX 9.0 Shader Model 3.0 (pixel shader and it's operating at 2133 MB/s max - this is how fast it can fill up pixels in a video-game). The reason Windows is rating it low is because Windows tests your card on how many pixel it can shade in a 3-D graphics environment - since VGA operates in a parallel simultaneous transmission, it can only occupy 1 lane with a transfer rate of 2133MB/s at max - which is not bad with a subscore rating of 2.5 which is usually sufficient in the desktop graphics and 3?D graphics categories. In order for you to get a 3.0 and above rating for the video card, you must have a GPU that supports D3D (Direct 3D) v10.0, and pixel shader model 4.0.

Take note that the higher clock speed and pixel shader version of your video card, that faster it will get in 3D acceleration - thus higher video card rating.

Hope this information helps.

ERROR: Un supported pixel shader version detected, 2.0

You get this error because your graphic-card (architecture) is too old to run the game. To run the game you need a graphic-card which supports at least pixel shader 3.0, whil your card "only" has 2.1.

In case you're sure your card supports pixel shader 3.0, you'll need to update the graphic driver and/or DirectX (component of Windows) to the latest version(s) and try again.

If you're not sure wether your card support pixel shaders 3.0, you can post the brand, name and type of your graphic card here and I'll reply. When the card doesn't support 3.0, there is no other solution than simply buying a newer card (or don't play the game).

dear friend

first of all, intel graphics are not graphic cards, they are on board graphics

new game require extra graphic card put on vga slot or newer ones on pci express slot

they support T&L, Cine FX, Pixel shader etc for modern game

just buy a separate graphic card and put in your m/b

and enjoy new games

You need to have a card with Pixel Shader 2.0 and above, like the nvidia geforce 6600 GT, 6600 or 6600 le. However, those cards are PCI Express cards. If you have a AGP slot, look for any AGP card with Pixel Shader 2.0 and above. Cheers
