Question about Cameras

1 Answer

My Sony DCR-TRV14E no longer works via firewire with my PC. I have had it working in the past, but its several months now since I've tried, and my PC does not recognise the camcorder at all (USB or Firewire) It's driving me mad! I've tried on another PC, and no luck there either. This seems to be a common problem, looking through chat sites and I've tried various things (eg Microsoft Knowledgebase KB 904412 download patch). Also tried removing firewalls ( Windows and Panda). It seems to be a software conflict of some sort, unless the camera has gone wrong? Before I take it to Sony, can you suggest any other ways to try and get the PC to recognise it? Any help appreciated. Thanks Jean Asher

I have a SONY DCR-TRV950 and can not download video via the USB cable. Any thoughts?

Hi there, I've just posted my own answer to the same problem, my own problem, elsehwere on here. My solution was to insert a Firewire card into my PC and use that port. I checked with Sony and they said my original USB cable and port was not appropriate with Windows 7 64 bit, that a Firewire port was best. When such a Rirewore port is used then the correct driver automaticllly become available to you, if you have Windows 7 that is. I probably wrote the answer much better first time around on my other posting.......

DCR-HC52 fire wire port doesn't work. Have tried on several computer, none of them even see the camera. Best Buy tried using a different cable same results

This happens only mostly if you connect camera on Firewire AFTER you been PC okay, so plug your camera in the Firewire sockets then put your PC on, then the PC will open the firewire port up for use and set up a user port adrs for the port.

SONY DCR-TRV14E and when i plug the camera into a Visat

There are no drivers for this product. If you talk to Sony directly you might get an answer from them, but as far as I know no Vista drivers have been made for this yet.

My computers do not recognize sony dcr-hc28 camcorder

Hi, I'm from the Philippines. I have the same handycam model. The first time I connected it to my PC (Windows XP) via firewire, nothing happened. It cannot detect my handycam. I returned the firewire card to the shop where I bought it. They tested it and the firewire card is ok but the firewire cable is defective so they replaced it. When I got home, I tested it again but still the handycam cannot be detected by my PC. I went online to find a solution and I came upon a solution that you need to attach/connect your charger to the handycam before you connect your handycam to your PC. It said that the handycam needs a steady supply of power to be able to connect to the PC. It sounded weird but I tried it and BINGO! The handycam got detected. I was able to capture my videos.

I also have a TV Tuner & Capture Card but when I capture videos thru the RF cables, the videos losses quality and videos are blurred. Thats the reason I bought a firewire card.

Video capture problems

Sounds to me that the bit rate on your PC or capturing device is not as high as that now available through the firewire ports. Try increasing the bit rate in your settings and see if that helps. Or have you always used firewire?

Sony DCR PC105E I-link failure; any advice? (Please!)

Ideas.. 1. Is the camera set the same as before during capture? 2. Does the camera work on another PC or Mac? 3. Look up WinDV on google.com and see if that works. (It's free.)
