Dryer control doesn't move on less dry more dry setting and will not shut off when clothes are dry.

If clothes are hot then try dryer on timed dry. If timer does not move then timer is most likely bad . Replace. If timer moves on timed dry it is not getting hot enough to click the cycling thermostat.(If clothes are overly hot above 160 then the cycling therm. is stuck Replace.

I started my dryer one night i figured it would shut off but when i woke up the next morning it was still running and appeared to still be warm. The timer apparently was stuck on 70 minutes. the following...

Kenmore is a Sears brand and there isnt too much info on the net as for tech support. Youre best option is to call sears and see if they can give you any over the phone advice, but if the timer switch is getting stuck, it sounds like it may need replacing.

My dryer got really hot one night and 3 nights later it stopped working. I checked all of the electrical and everything has power except for the timer.

Did you check the thermostats in the air tube going from the blower to the drum?
Sometimes a faulty thermostat will cause the over-heating problem you mentioned. This may also lead to heating coil failure.
A thermostat problem could lead to the dryer not running also.
Hope this helps

Dried some clothes the other night and when I went out to take the clothes out the next morning the dryer was hot on the top and in the back of the control panel. I unplugged the dryer and took the top...

More than likely, the motor centrifugal switch is stuck. You should be able to turn off the element with the timer control switch. If the timer switch is on and the dryer is not running, the element should be off, unless the motor contact is stuck closed. You will have to get to the motor and 'un stick' the contact. Its a bit tricky, you may need help.

Ge dryer staying hot even when it's off

This could be a stuck main timer control or thermostat. I recommend you un-plug the dryer until the problem is located. You don't want to start a fire or do more damage.

Dryer won't stop running

The hot wire runs through the start button as a bridge to complete the circuit until the motor centrifigal switch closes the circuit when running. Now if you manually start your dryer and the timer doesnt advance keeping the dryer on until you open the door or advance the timer manually then the timer is good but the motor to advance the cam is faulted. The second scenario is that the dryer is off when the door is open, but when you close the door the dryer starts. With the second scenario we have a closed circuit at all times. At this point you have either a stuck start button or the centrifigal switch is closed. Usually it is the start button on this model.
