Question about Nelson LR Rain Train Traveling Sprinkler 1865

1 Answer

My rain train will not spin and travel consistantly. Water will come out of the spouts, but it will often just sit there and spray water in the same place - not spinning or traveling. I have lubricated the gear box. What should I try next?

Hi,
You will need to boost your water pressure... it needs 40-60 PSI to work correctly...

Here is a tip about how to get parts for your traveling lawn sprinkler and also a great article about how traveling lawn sprinklers work.

Sits out in rain all day next day won't start. Once all dry from sitting day or two starts.

Year, make and model? Most likely water is pouring threw your fuse panel, under the hood. Cover it with plastic, and make sure the harnesses going to it point downward from it.. So water won't travel down the wires. Could be coils and ignition modules also.

Faucet will not swivel

if your faucet is new....the spout was put together wrong and it needs to be removed and re-attached correctly...(friction washer/ring in wrong position).....if not new....spray some penetrating oil on the connection that is supposed to swivel....make sure the surface is dry and try to avoid overspray. let it sit for 15 min...then spray it again...and again let it sit ....after sitting for a few minutes.....gently try to move the spout side to side...if no change...repeat the first processs...and continue to repeat until it becomes moveable....once moveable....detach the spout.....dry out and remove any foreign matter from the connection side on the faucet...then apply a small amount of faucet grease to the connection threads and the inside barrel....a thin even coat ...excess grease will clog your aerator...don't use too much....now repeat the cleaning and lubricating process on the removed spout connector....reassemble.....remove aerator....turn on the water and flush....replace the aerator....turn water on full blast....check for leaks and for swing...it should swivel now ....if not...loosen the connection nut a tad and try again....if still no swing....you are missing a friction ring somewhere in the connection and it needs to be replaced before you will be able to swing the spout.....good luck...

Nelson Sprinkler Rain Train Traveling Sprinkler will only go backwards , i have the arms going in the right direction...please help

If it's going backwards, and assuming you didn't take it apart and put it together wrong, then the arms aren't going in the right direction. Looking down from the top, my unit should be moving clockwise if it's set up correctly. In any case, switch it so the water pushes the arms in the other direction. the transmission is pretty straightforward - if it's going in the wrong direction then the arms are spinning in the wrong direction.

The unit runs backwards

Hi, loosen the arms and rotate them so when turned on the spray arms spin the opposite direction to what they do now. Regards Phil.

WHY IS MY RAIN TRAIN MOVING BACKWARDS

Hi there ... have you posted this question before? Not important ... I answered this question yesterday ...

ASSURE that the water arms are pointing in the proper direction. Normally, the arms should turn in a clock-wise direction to make the "tractor" go forward. If yours are going the other way, the tractor will travel backward. If yours ARE moving in a clock-wise direction and your tractor is going backward, reverse so the arms travel in a counter clock-wise direction. If it STILL goes backward, no matter which direction you are spinning, return the device to the store where you got it and ask for assistance.

I have this very device (though not this model number), though mine is LOTS older than yours is. I can make it go backward but it doesn't necessarily want to straddle the hose in reverse. All I do is reverse the direction the arms spin and vo-la ... it goes backward. BTW, I always store my tractor with the transmission in neutral to avoid damage by rough handling of others.

My traveling sprinkler does not travel , Why??

You have to turn the water on! Just kidding check to see that the gear box or the place where the water goes into is not clogged try to take it apart and free up what ever is in there usually if you are in a hard water area it will gummed up with minerals. Good Luck Give it a try. Thumbs up..

I have a frigidaire ultra quite modle number fdb126rbs1 there is a a spout with a rubber flap on the end and it is shooting water out of it with a lot of presure?

Hi, lilztheman

You said,
I have a Frigidaire ultra quite model number fdb126rbs1 there is a a spout with a rubber flap on the end and it is shooting water out of it with a lot of pressure?

And is the water inside your dishwasher and cleaning your dishes??
Please clarify what the problem is and what's wrong.
Where is it shooting pressured water too?

This dishwasher has the older tower type spray system inside the dishwasher.
It consists of a number of tower like tubes that fit one inside the other by the water pressure and they all are pushed up into each other to create a tower which sprays the dishes clean with high pressure water.
At the top of the tower is a plastic cap to direct the water with pressure in all directions!
Please tell me in detail what the problem is so I may suggest a solution.
