Why won't my "solar" powered watch charge/work any more?

Some of these eco-drive watches use a swinging weight self winding mechanism (albeit through a generator) or a solar cell under the dial, some use both. Either way the capacitor is the thing that holds the charge and once that fails it will need replacing. Sometimes not as straight forward as replacing a battery as you nay have to remove the auto weight and sometimes usually on the solar ones its just a case of popping it out and a new one in. They are quite difficult to identify and get hold of but they do differ from normal batteries as they come with 1 of the contacts attached to them to prevent fitting an ordinary battery by mistake

MTG 900 SAYING "CHARGE" AND I'VE BEEN PUTTING

I am assuming you are reading the battery charge correctly. If so you need a new rechargable battery. Special battery so it is a little expensive. Make sure the person knows it is a "rechargable battery" you want. A regular battery will not work properly or recharge.

Eco-drive watch stop working, after it was in jewelry box for over a year.

First, be sure that the stem is fully pressed in. Pulling out the stem to set the watch stops the action.
The Eco-Drive is still a battery watch. It just has a solar/light powered recharge system built in. The battery will run down after a year of no light. Place the Eco-Drive in bright sunlight for a couple of days in order to recharge the built-in battery. You may recharge the watch in fluorescent light as well, it just takes longer.

I have an eco drive watch for 8 years now and while it charge normally in the sun, it loses the charge (hands and graduations stop glowing) after about only 1 hour whereas before it would stay charged for...

yes , though the battery is charged by solar cell it does need to be replaced after awhile. So you can get the battery replaced, if it is the battery .

If its not the battery than the solar cell capacitor can also be replaced.

This should be checked out by a professional watch maker they can test the battery and the charger for you for free.

After setting year to 2010, keeps resetting to 2016.

who set set it these have a 5yr guarantee so send it back to citizen ,it may need a new capacitor this is like a battery but it stores the power from solar panel on the face of your watch these always need replacing at sometime within the 5yrs. because it can cause the functions of the watch to malfunction. if you not got the guarantee try a good repairer they may be cheaper then sending bk without guarantee

Citizen solar watch will not keep time if removed from light

If your watch is light powered, it does not have battery. However, there is a capacitor which needs replacement. New capacitor usually revokes light powered watches and makes them work as new. Rate me,plz.

Hi. Just purchased a Citizen Eco-Drive JR3 in black. Placed it under a lamp overnight, but the solar charge bars still haven't appeared. Is this normal? Thanks!

Try placing it in sunlight or daylight for a day and see if that makes a difference. If it is more than a 4 years only the capacitor/battery may be old and needs to be replaced. A low wattage lamp may be slow at recharging the cell.

Citizen Eco Drive

A "non" fully charged watch will sometimes "jump" seconds rather than indicate one second intervals. Charging these small solar panel watches takes forever, in BRIGHT sun. Have you tried leaving it outside, in the sunlight, for at least 12 hours?
