You shouldnt have to worry about a speaker jack for it. it should work anywhere and a simple usa to uk power adapter will work for you it just changes the plug type and up or downs the voltage (i cant recall if uk is higher or lower then the u.s)

My toshiba notebook does not have an external port to add an extra speaker system other than the ear jack outlet. can i still use my jbl speakers through that outlet and if so i still need a power sourse...

Are your jbl speakers amplified or passive.
If they are amplified and have the volume control on them you just need to power them and plug them straight in. It should tell you on one of the speakers where the power adapter plugs in what the voltage should be.
It does'nt usually tell you the current they need, that is usually on the power adapter that is supplied with them when you buy them.

If they are passive you will need to feed the output signal from the earphone socket to an additional amplifier which has you speakers connected to it.

I have jbl encounter speaker, my left speaker is very weak compared to the right channel. I can hardly hear the sound out of the left one.

try swapping the speakers around if the problem still persists either the speaker is faulty
the speakers plug/outlet is usually at the back of the computer you will have to open up the computer to check the lead attached to the rear of the input plug make sure the connection is good
try cleaning your computer of dust using a fine air blower from a compressor making VERY sure that there is no MOISTURE in the air line specifically around the CPU central processing unit and your sound card dust causes static to build up in a computer causing it to overheat any many other problems
hope this helps you

How do the wires go into the back of the creature?

First go to this site and download and install this codec pack. Also, make sure you have your speakers set as you default sound device.

JBL Creature 2 are a computer speaker system designed and sold by JBL. The system is made up of two satellite speakers and an omni-directional subwoofer. The speaker system connects directly to a computer's available sound card output jack or a laptop's stereo output jack. Occasionally, problems can occur with the sound quality and connection with the speaker system. If there is no sound coming from the speakers, check the cable connections. Ensure the satellite speakers are firmly connected to the matching jacks on the back of the Creature's subwoofer. The connections are color coded and, in addition, each speaker connector is shaped differently to fit only into one jack. Ensure the output cable is firmly connected to the subwoofer audio in jack and the computer's audio-out jack. Ensure the power button on the back of the subwoofer is pushed inward. If everything is connected properly, the green lights on the underside of the satellite speakers will glow.If there is still no sound, tap the right-hand side audio-increase button on the right satellite speaker until sound is heard. Also ensure there is audio playing from the computer. Double check the lower right-hand side of the window's main screen and look for a speaker icon. If the icon has a red slash over it, click the icon and uncheck the "mute" option.

Hope this helps

Do they need a power source for the JBL platinum computer speakers?

if one of the speakers has a female jack on the back or side that says "+-" around a partial circle and possibly a dc voltage, then yes they need power.
A replacement adapter will run you about 10 bucks at walmart. Make sure you take the speaker that takes the power with you so you can make sure to get the proper voltage and plug size.

Can't get sound JBL Media 100 speakers/ subwoofer with mac

I am not sure what the extra lead is for. The instruction book should make it plain how it should be connected. If you have no instructions perhaps they can be downloaded from the manufacturer's website.

My 5:1 speaker system is prewired and has only one audio in lead and a socket for the power supply. The audio lead of such speaker systems is generally equipped with a 3.5mm stereo jack plug intended to be used in the headphone socket of computers, tv's, radios and anything with a headphone socket, even phones.

Once you are certain the speakers are properly connected they should work if there is audio present at the headphone socket of the Mac. A known pair of headphones can be used to test this and conversely the speakers could be tested by plugging them into any other known good audio source.

The presence of an RCA or phono plug/lead is confusing as these aren't usually associated with active speaker systems for computer and general use but rather for more serious audio such as connections between an amplifier and peripherals or cinema surround sound. Such a system probably wouldn't be suitable for use with a computer...

JBL Eon G2 Speaker

from our experience rebuilding woofers once the lead wires get pulled too much or start to strain you have been running too much power into the woofer and making the cone move too far in and out.You need to cut the input signal from your preamp down and cut the volume down on the speaker input on you eon. We keep seeing too many of these amped speakers blown from too much signal.

JBL EON15-G2--Does the HF Amplifer to the driver have any voltage?

The 2 leads that come off the HF driver are different sizes...you should only be able to hook them up one way. Takes the guess work out of it for ya.

Assuming there is nothing wrong with the speaker, hooking up the 2418H HF driver to it should do the trick. However, I blew my HF driver a few months ago and bought a new one, only to blow it immediately. This was because the motherboard of the JBL EON G2 had actually failed and caused the HF driver to fail. Once I replaced the motherboard and the HF driver (again) everything was back to sounding great. Hope that helps.
