Bobbins are different between machine manufacturers so you will need to establish what make and model you have first.

The manual should show the bobbin style, ie plastic, metal, holes on top only, holes top and bottom, tapered top or flat.

It is essential that you use the correct bobbin for your machine so check what is in it now and take one with you when you shop for more to ensure correct match.

"bobbin size

Consult your owner's manual to find out what bobbin to use in your machine. There are many bobbins available, some will actually fit in your machine, but they may be a slight bit different size that will negatively affect your machine's operation. If you don't know which bobbin to buy, take the machine's manufacturer name and model to a sewing shop and ask if they can sell you the bobbin for your machine. Better yet, find a local dealer who supports your particular machine's manufacturer. You may even find the appropriate bobbin online by searching:
Manufacturer + Model + the word "bobbin"

What bobbins fit the singer featherweight 117

The Featherweight II 117 uses the Class 15 bobbin. A 4-pack of the Dritz equivalent of the bobbin is available from Amazon here: http://www.amazon.com/Dritz-Plastic-Class-15-Bobbins/dp/B000Y3D1NG . Singer has a 10-pack of the bobbins here: http://www.singerco.com/accessories/detail/2075/class-15-bobbins-10-pack . You can buy a manual from Singer, as well. (See their Instruction Manual page from the Customer Support Link then enter 117 in the Search box.)

I hope this helps.

Thread is balling up and not allowing the fabric to move it isn't stitching right

This can be caused by several different things. Check the threading. Un-thread the machine and follow the guidance on the manual and re-thread the machine. The bobbin, if the bobbin thread that coming out of the bobbin case in a wrong direction, could cause this. Re-set the direction. When you pull thread from the bobbin case, bobbin should roll counter clockwise. The needle, if it is not the right size needle for the fabric or the needle is slightly bent, maybe replace the needle and try with different size of needle. Once its balling up, sometimes it's left some thread in the machine under the needle plate around the feed dog, clean them up. Thread tension, different fabric may need to be adjust the thread tension, try to check this one under the manuals/instruction. When ready, check and use a scrap of fabric/remnants!

Threading a bobbin on the new home 2014le

place spool of thread in , route it towards your bobbin holder, take thread and put through one hole about 4 inches hanging ontop. press it in and slide it to the right where you hear a click, hit the peddle, should be winding, it will automatically stop on its own when full. click it to the left when done, snip it and then drop that into your bobbin holder , cover your plate, thread your upper thread and presto you are now sewing with your threaded bobbin, always remember these steps. #1 material choice #2 thread weight #3 needle size. you got to match those 3 for beautiful perfect stitches.
