This is an LCD monitor, not a direct view tube model. Unless LCD's can be fixed this way?

How long have you had this Monitor? If the green light comes on and you don't see any picture, this might be an indication that the picture tube of your Monitor has already failed. This can be fixed by "rejuvenation". It's an old technique and I'm not sure if you have any local technicians who does it in your area.

I see. Have you changed your resolution before this happened? does the back-light of the LCD lights up? or its just pure black on the screen? You can replace the back-light by following these steps.http://www.inventgeek.com/projects/short...

The backlight was lighting up really really faint for a several hours (I had to squint!) and then it went out completely. It seemed to have failed catastrophically. I was swapping out motherboards as my old one popped a bunch of caps. Then when I had WindBlows XP running again the monitor went black (actually really faint). THEN it went black.
So I think your recommendation is the problem. I have the monitor taken complete apart now and I looked over the article on inventgeek and that's a reasonable solution!

However, given the details, do you think there is another issue involved? Thank you so much for your help! :))

Most likely you won't have to replace your inverter, so i don't think there is any other issue involved. Just make sure Before you reassemble your monitor power it up to verify that it lights up

With the SECOND (usually the RIGHT) mouse-button, click anywhere on your computer's "wallpaper".
Click Properties.
Click Desktop.
Click Identify and watch both screens.
One should display a large '1' and the other a large '2'.
Click 'Extend my Windows Desktop onto this screen".
Again, click Identify.

Monitor not showing picture, but has power

Could be the Graphics card is out, or the VGA cord is damaged and isnt giving video but is giving some sort of signal to engage the monitor.

Hey , i have Mag 900P monitor and i cant see nothing... the monitoe looks dead... but ther is a green light - power... should i buy a new monitor?

Hello there !

There could be a problem with the picture tube it could be dead( shorting) or the tube Transformer s damaged another course of this could be at the Horizontal section ie a Transistor or a Diode could be shorted .
Pls tell ur Technician to check all this .
Lastly Buy a new Monitor .

Good luck

When I turn on my computer and monitor, the monitor display is on for about 30 seconds, then goes black. The computer is on, the green light is on, but nothing on the screen.

get a bright light or torch and shine it on the screem if you see any faint image then the problem lies with your backlight, sometimes connectors come loose and thats your best hope. if you have a warranty of any kind its time to use it.

Power light flashes with no display

That usually means that the connection between the PC and the monitor has been interupted- check that the cable (probably has blue ends) between the two is firmly connected, and power it back up. If that doesn't work, you have one of three problems; a broken VGA cable, a broken monitor, or a broken video card. Finding out which- you'll actually need someone tech-savvy there to help you figure that out. Try plugging the monitor into a different computer. If that fails, use a different VGA cable (cables are pretty cheap at monoprice.com), and if that fails, it's your video card.
