Question about Ryobi 15" Electric Factory Reconditioned Trimmer (ZRRY41002) - Factory Reconditioned

1 Answer

Bad Carb After starting the engine on my gas powered 31cc 2-cycle trimmer, I cannot get any power. Every time I pull the trigger to give it a little gas, the engine dies. It will idle ok, but then quits when I give it gas. I have primed it plenty and there is gas in the thing.

on mine, the priming bulb goes flat, it can't **** in any fuel into the carb. When starting, it quickly runs out of fuel. The guy at the shop says it is because of old fuel gumming up the lines.

I am going to try to clean the carbuerator.

I've cleaned and blown through the carb but it still fails in the same way as yours runs ok with choke and on idle I have also changed the spark plug but that was no good either. There has to be a blockage somewhere but I can't find it

Check the fuek lines for hole and leaks, check the fuel filter and clean if necessary. remove the carbuerator and inspect the gasket; it should be soft and flexible, if it seems hard or brittle replace it. clean the carb with carb cleaner sray (available at any local auto parts store) and compressed air. make sure you get inside the small fuel rail holes. also check the primer bulb for pin holes and proper seating/seal. if that doesn't work have the carb repaired at a service center or replaced.

On the carb. Low for initial and high for top end. Start with both at 2 1/2 turns out. Then adjust low when you pull the trigger to eliminate hesitation. Then floor it and hold while you adjust the high

Will stop running when the triger is pulled

Most 2 cycle engines have 3 choke setting. Place it in 1 and pull until I starts then it will die. Then place in 2 and pull again. It should start and run a little rough for a few seconds. Once it is running flip it to 3 and go. If it still dies when you give it gas try running in the #2 position. The problem is the air/fuel mixture is too high. Locate the screw on the carb and turn to the left to reduce the amount of gas. Hope this helps

Sounds as though the fuel filter may be plugged. The filter is in the tank. Take a look, see if it is visible. Remove and replace. Good luck...Lee

I was given a 31cc craftsmen grass trimmer that starts but won't stay running. When I took it apart it has 2 lines coming from the gas tank. One goes to a primer bulb then the carb and the other line has...

The basics of the fuel line on these and many 2 cycle engines is this, one line from the tank goes to the primer bulb and the other from the tank is the return line from the carburetor. There should be another from the primer to the carb. The primer pushes fuel into the carb and any excess flows through the carb and back into the tank.

I hope this helps.

Need gas line sketch for craftsman brush wacker 32.cc

Most 2 cycle engines are basically the same. The primer button has two lines coming from it. Gas is actually s.ucked thru the carb and not pushed thru when you prime it. Take a look at the sketch I provided and hopefully you will get yours running again.58fe8f0.jpg

How do you change the pull rope on a poulan 31cc gas trimmer

You have to take the unit apart. Seperate the shaft from the engine. Then take the engine off the back side. This will allow access to the starter spool, where the rope goes. If you get that far, be careful when you wind the spring. Good luck...Lee

4 cycle engine wont stay running when pulling it has fresh gas

First, check the fuel lines for cracks/breaks.
If they are o.k., then you will need to disassemble the carburetor and spray with carb. cleaner. Make sure the small screen in the carb. is free of debris. Use a Den Tek Brush, (http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=165357&catid=1152), to clean the small portals in carb. Reassemble and start.

(NOTE: If the cleaning doesn't work, then buy a carb. kit abd replace all appropriate parts.)

If you need further assistance, just let me know.

Engine stalls when giving gas

Make sure you have the carb. fuel line on the correct side of carb. Not on primer bulb side.
