SOURCE: Sony Wega 40" TV will not turn on, standby light blinks 6 times repeatedly

Hello,For model KV-40XBR800,

Pls check following area.

Low HV Shutdown:
On the D Board.
Check IC8004/pin 7 should be 7.4v.
Check IC8006/pin 2 should be 2.5v if lower will trigger shutdown by causing pin 1 to turn on.
Check IC8006/pin 3 reference voltage 2.2v.
IC8006/pin 1 normally at 0v. If high
turns D5007 ON which turns the latch circuit Q6532,
Q6530, and Q6527 ON and turns the AC relay RY6501 OFF.

And NOTE: 6 blinks also can be Low B+ protection.

Unregulated 7.5 v from the power supply to 5v reg IC504 on the A Board. 5v to M Board Q2314

to CPU IC2300/pin 43. If 5v missing set will shutdown with 6 blinks.

Good Luck

SOURCE: 40'' Sony Bravia goes into standby with the light blinking 9 times

I finally managed to solve this problem by unplugging everything - scarts - HDD cables - power etc and left it for an hour. When I turned it back on again the problem had sorted itself out.

SOURCE: My Sony tv screen blinks off and on and timer/standby blinks 5

Yes....this blinking code is a diagnostic fault code which is a good thing, you count the number of blinks and it tells you where the problem is.....you also can see it by pressing the buttons, DISPLAY,CHANNEL,5,volume - not + ,then power....In your case it blinks 5 times, its in the video out,you need a desoldering iron, solder, rosin core 60%tin and 40%lead...remove and replace these,Q761,Q705,Q732 on the C board also Q218,Q219,Q220 on the A board.hope this helps.......

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power led, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. My son stepped on a remote control for a DVR. The Sony Trinitron Wega KD 32FS130 went blank. Now it won't come on, goes into standby mode, with the red light blinking four times. Any suggestions?

It is possible that the button your son stepped on is stuck. If so, remove the batteries form the DVR remote control and see if the TV works. Unplug the TV from the wall for a few minutes to clear its memory to be sure. Some times remote controllers can have cross-talk, meaning it can affect other equipment,

I pressed the sleep button by accident and the pic and sound went off and the stand by/timer red light started blinking. what does it mean?

Depends on how many times it blinks, just count the blinks Example: if it blink 2 times then pauses and blink 5 times then the code would be 25 and so on

Once you have this code, please post it.

Stuck in standby

Sorry about that. When the tv goes bad like not turning on, the green light will blink, and goes right back to red standby light while the dtv letters will briefly show on the lower right of the tv screen, then go back to blank screen. The tv will need to be taken to an authorized service center for repair. Common causes are a bad inverter/power supply, power control board, or circuit board.

Standby mode and can't get tv to work

This sounds like the set is in protective shutdown. A problem has been detected and the set shut down. Normally when this happens, the standby light will blink a code count. Can you count the blinks and post that number here? That will indicate the circuit in which the problem was detected. Also, please confirm that the model number of the set is: KV-36HS500 as the blink codes are different based upon model.

Thanks,
Dan
