If it only happens occasionally, it may be the circuit board is starting to fail or you may be accidently hitting keys or holding the spacebar down too long, which is easy to do. sorry, no easy fix on this one, unless it is you.

To answer your question yes the print wheel can be changed, BUT that is not your problem. The machine needs to be reset or the reset tab needs adjusting.
When you turn on the machine the print head moves to the right side, the print wheel spins, and the ribbon jumps up and down, that is the machine resetting its self.
