Question about Husqvarna Lawn Tractor - 54in. Deck, 26 HP, Model# LGT2654

Briggs and Stratton Vanguard 21hp only has spark on one side i've replaced the magneto and gaped it properly but still no spark, plugs are good and it runs good on the one cylinder, cleaned the flywheel and dont seem to have any broken or exposed wires and out of ideas.

removw chop screen and blower housing unplug little wire under mag remove 2 screws and remove mag reverse prosess with new mag but pull mag away from fly wheel and snug screws center magnet on flywheel over legs of magneto place .010 feelre guage inbetween and loosen screws, hold mag against flywheel and tighten remove feeler guage reinstall kill wire on bottom of mag install blower housing and chop screen hope tis helps

I would swap all the wires from the left to right, see if it works, if it does then I would start putting the original right side back on one piece at a time, more than likely it's in the original wiring, maybe where it spits going up to the right side, or a little farther back seeing as mice do like to travel. running on one cylinder and oil on the plug makes it sound like a blown head gasket that would cause a compression drop and would also draw oil from the crankcase

My briggs and stratton 18 hp vanguard model 356447 will not start just back fires through the carb. I have good comprssion and spark at both plugs. I replaced the flywheel key as thought the backfireing...


check intake valves for proper seating. If the valves do not close completely it will allow the engine to backfire thru the carb. Another possibility is internal timing caused by the misalignment of the timing gears between the crankshaft and cam gears.

You will need to buy a replacement magneto as the secondary (spark plug wires) are hard wired into the magneto.

One cylinder not firing


First take the plug wire off the plug to the one not firing..start and then using a pair of pliers hold the plug wire away fro the plug insert a rubber handled screw driver in the plug wire and make screw driver contact with the plug end..there should be spark if the coil is good..if not that coil must be replaced...good luck

I HAVE NO SPARK ON MY BRIGGS AND STRATON MOTOR


Try this locate your coil / magneto and disconnect the kill "shut off wire " and try to start if it starts your switch may be bad or wire broken..if still no spark using a rubber handled pliers ...Pull your plug wire and place a screwdriver or similar metal piece and in the plug wire now bring the screw driver close to the engine block or Frame if spark it is your plug..if not your coil needs replaced...not a hard job just use a business card to set clearance on your coil..good luck

Have 303447 briggs 16 hp only fires one cylinder


Have you also changed the spark plug too. The ignition circuit is pretty simple, from the battery, the Coil is energized, the "points" or equivalent, through the "Distributor" or equivalent, and onto the Spark Plug. So it is a simple matter to work along the path, proving the "Integrity" at each, point by testing. IF it still doesn't fire after ensuring all Leads are OK, the Spark Plugs are proven OK, the Cables, the Points, & Distributor, . IT is either that or the Ignition Timing is OFF. Please check all those points.
