No power supply to printer

My printer lights are not glowing even though the cord is connected.

Sounds like a main system board which isn't a cost effective repair. Here's a copy of the HP service manual that will walk you through troubleshooting.

Printer won't turn off


Check the power supply cords; make sure they are attached properly. If you are using a power strip, surge protector or any other device where the power supply cord is not plugged directly into a wall outlet, bypass them and plug the printer into a wall outlet; see if that changes anything.
If that doesn't work, remove the printer's power cord from the outlet and all the other cables that the printer connects to the computer to.
Wait 5 or 10 minutes for the printer's CMOS and RAM chips to power off completely.
After enough time has elapsed, plug only the printer's power cord into the wall outlet (do not hook up any of the communication cables in e.g. USB, or serial cables, or network cables.)
Then press the power "on" button.

If the error message is gone, power off the printer.
Uninstall the printer and all its programs from the computer.
Do a clean install and follow the procedures of hooking up the printer as though you are installing it for the very 1st time.

You may have to obtain firmware and/or software updates from HP on your specific printer.

You may also have to check with your OS vendor to make sure you have all the updates/service packs on your PC or laptop

Try this out:

Some printers require time to turn on. These printers may or may not give feedback in the form of blinking light(s). Wait up to a minute for the power light to come on before proceeding with the steps below. Instructions If the printer uses a power adapter (module), follow the instructions below. If the printer uses only a power cord, see the section below entitled “ If the printer uses only a power cord .” If the printer uses a power module Follow the steps below to ensure power is properly supplied to the printer:
  1. Check the power module part number against the part number listed in the User’s Guide to ensure the proper power adapter is being used.
  2. Disconnect the power cord or adapter from the wall outlet.
  3. Disconnect the printer data cable from the printer.
  4. Disconnect the power cord from the printer, wait thirty seconds, then reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  5. Disconnect the power cord from the power module and reconnect the power cord to the power module. This may not be necessary if the power module has a permanently attached power cord.
  6. Reconnect the power cord directly into a working wall outlet. If the power cord was plugged into a surge protector or power strip, plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet instead. NOTE: "The HP Photosmart 8100, 8400, and HP Deskjet 6000 series printer power cords feature a green LED built into the power plug. If the LED is not glowing, the power module may have failed. Proceed to step 7 below.
  7. If the printer still will not turn on or the power LED built into the power cord is not glowing, plug the printer into a wall outlet in another room. If the printer or power LED turns on when connected to an electrical outlet in another room, there is a problem with the power in the original room.
  8. If there is still no power to the printer, then the power module, cord, or printer may be defective. Try the power module/cord on another HP Deskjet or Photosmart printer, of the same model if possible, to see if the power module is functioning. If the power LED is still not glowing, the power module may be defective. Replace the power module and cord.
  9. If the power module/cord works on the other printer, then this printer is defective. Service your printer.
  10. If you cannot determine whether the problem is the printer or the power module/cord, or if another printer is not available to test with, replace the power module/cord first. If this does not resolve the issue, service your printer.
If the printer uses only power cord Follow the steps below to ensure power is properly supplied to the printer:
  1. Check the power module part number against the part number listed in the User’s Guide to ensure the proper power adapter is being used.
  2. Disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet.

My printer won't turn on. I have tried turning everything off and back on but it still won't turn on.


There is only one way to find out if it is an issue with the printer or the Power cord or Power Adapter.

Normally every HP printer has 2 parts. One cord connects the Printer to an Adapter. the Adapter cord then connects to the Wall outlet.

Now that you have connected the printer to working outlet, Check after 10-15 mins if the Adapter ( black box ) is warm or cold. If the Adapter is warm and the green LED light on adapter is glowing, then it could an issue with the Cord or the Printer.

Try with another Adapter or power cord to diagnose.

For Other brand printers, there should be a power adapter ( black box ) and it should be warm when connected to wall outlet, if it is not warm then it is defective power adapter that you need to replaced. Else it is a problem with printer mechanism.

I have a HP Deskjet D1560, and with the power cord plugged into a working outlet (I checked), the printer won't turn on. Is it just old? Is something wrong with the power cord or the printer?

Printer will not turn on. Lexmark 7100 Series Model 4409-K01


if the printer is plugged in to the surge protector, plug in to the wall socket.. and then chek.. if it is not truning on , check if the power cord connected to the printer is warm ... OR.. if any light is glowing in the power cord..
If the power cord is warm/light is glowing in the power adapter, and the printer is not turning on. then the problem may be with the printer itself...

Hp Pro L7680 not coming on


Check if you see any light glowing in the power adapter, that is connected to the printer . If there isn't , then probably you may change to a new power cord and adapter.

You can also try a different wall socket.
Even afte that if the problem persists , then it could be printer issue. it needs to be replaced.

This is power failure. No need to find out anything what is the problem of your printer. Just send it to anyone very near to you and repair your printer.
I have printer like this and the problem as the same of yours.
No power, no light or even initial to run the printer. My technician says that it's power supply defective due to high voltage electricity.
Or I'm sure also its fuse problem.

Won't power on

  • If the product uses a power module (adapter), go to Step two: Check if power is supplied from the power module.
  • If the product uses only a power cord, go to Step three: Check if power is supplied from the power cord.If the product uses a power module (adapter), follow these steps to make sure that power is properly supplied to the product. Figure 3: Power module c00745315.gif
    1. Check the power module part number against the part number listed in the User’s Guide to make sure that the proper power module is being used.

  1. Inspect the power cord for visible damage.
    • If the power cord is damaged, replace the power cord.
    • If the power cord is not damaged, continue with the next instruction.

  5. Reconnect the power cord to the product.
