SOURCE: wiring thermostat to a American Standard 5ton air

On the thermosta there are terminals, what you need to do is look at the old thermostat that you are replacing and make a note to yourself; what color of wire goes to which terminals,, Rc, R, C, G, W, Y, O, ect.
This is because the installer can use any color of wire. Then just hook the wires up to the same lettered terminals. American Standard should be standard terminal setup.

American Standard AC has started blowing fuses about 1x/2days - any ideas why & is it safe to just keep replacing the fuse?

Hello, the low voltage fuse will blow if the thermostat wires are shorting togethur or ground, or if the contactor coil on the outside unit is shorting to ground.

Replacing a trane weathertron with hunter 44132 i have r t o g y x2 b w wires where do they go on hunter 44312

T can be cut and capped, B goes to C (common) and W should go to W2 or E, whichever is present. X2 may be used in multistage heat strips if memory serves, cutting and capping it should be safe but changes in the wiring inside of the air handler may be required to accommodate this thermostat. If you like you can try connecting W and X2 (presumably white and black wires) both to the W2/E on the new thermostat but I would recommend checking the wiring inside of the air handler first. The rest of the terminals should be labeled the same.

Need schematic for an American Standard A/C Model number 7A0030A1

American Standard and Trane are the same thing. The diagram you want is not complicated at all. Just straight cool unit. American Standard does not put low or high pressure controls on unit. You can get diagram on line At American Standard.com. Just what do you need to know? Very basic unit.

Changing Thermostats

This is one where you will need a good control man or woman. The American Standard ASYST system is not intended for the homeowner to change out. It has a room sensor wire that others do not account for.
