Antique schwinn automatic shift in rear hub. How do I adjust it

Well, it's not antique, and I am not aware of any Schwinn that came with "automatic shifting", but if you mean the Positron derailleur, often part of an bike with FFS (front freewheeling system) then what you do is shift so that the chain is on the middle rear cog and then turn the adjustment screw in the middle of the derailleur so that the derailleur pulley is directly below the cog. I that does not fix the issue you need in-person help from an experienced mechanic. If none of this applies than you need to provide a better explanation of what you have or a pic.

I bought a bike frame today and I am trying to figure out what year and model it is ! It has a Schwinn plate on the front and the serial number is Y6500017 .

Schwinns often have a date code on or next to the head badge that you call a plate. That will tell you the month and year of manufacture. Google Schwinn date code" ( or serial number) for more info, but it is important only for curiosity to know model. For more info see my tip: How to determine the year value etc of your bicycle

I have a schwinn back of frame was stamped this #MA99361,is this serial# there is no other #s on the bike?

Yes, that is the serial number, but if you check the front of the head tube (or the Schwinn head badge) where the fork goes through to the handlebars there may be a date code also. See my tip below or just Google "Schwinn serial numbers" (or Schwinn date code) for more info.

I have a Schwinn ladies deluxe varsity bicycle with the serial number HU516988. Can anyone tell me the year (and month) it was produced, and whether it was made in Chicago or in Taiwan?

I don't know that the Varsity was made anywhere but Chicago, but could be wrong. A brief search tells me yours is newer than 1982, but I don't have the time to pin down exact date. Some Schwinns have a date code on the head badge or head tube and a separate serial number. Google "Schwinn serial number" (or date code) and do some research yourself, or check this link for more info:

No, it's the place and year of manufacture. the bike pictured is a Schwinn Varsity. In good shape, but no great value. the style/model is normally printed on the top tube.

CK006633 Schwinn men's Varsity bike

CK006633 is 1976. Value depends greatly on if its original and condition. Beat up riders would be under $50, a mint original would be 10 times that.

Adjust handlebar height on Schwinn Varsity

I'm answering 7 years later. I have a Schwinn Varsity 2500 Bike made probably in 2015. The Schwinn Varsity Bike is not set up the same way as a traditional bike. I loosened the center compression bolt and the two side stem clamp bolts and it came loose where I can adjust it up or down but, there's nothing to tighten the slack up below. I did some research. My original post here was to add or remove a spacer. I think you can remove a spacer to lower but, I don't think the stem is long enough to add another one. I've seen they sell an extension that you can add-on to make the handle bars higher.

Need to know how to do a complete overhaul on my 1968 ladies Schwinn Varsity, serial # DD45371

What's that involve - hubs, brakes, bottom bracket, headset, chain. Frames is frames, serial numbers are irrelevant.

Use a search engine for procedures. "how to..."

I have an old schwinn varsity. I went to change the rear tire, and turned out the rear axle bolt is stripped and I can't put wheel back on. Where can I find a replacement axle bolt?

you need a new axle kit, and a cog removal tool. They used to be a Huret dearailleur if I remember right. I know a varsity never had Shimano. I think you may be better off buying a new rear wheel (it is usually less money than having to rebuild the axle) and let the bike shop do the change over, it is well worth it. You wont have to deal with the brakes, check the cones etc. Why did you have the Meridian adult trike on, and you have an old 10 speed Varsity? Kind of confusing.
