it looks like i need 3d glasses to watch tv and the con is gone from settings.so i cant ajust colors. i checked the 3 red fuses in back but saw nothing wrong with them.took caps off and fuses seem all intact.

it looks like i need 3d glasses to watch tv. also the con is gone from the settings menu. i checked 3 red fuses in back and they seem ok. took off caps and wire is intact.

  • thoomas Aug 04, 2008

is there a fuse on the convergence power supply board i can check? i found 3 red fuses on a different board but they are ok. the only things i see close to a fuse on the power supply are blue and i dont want to pull on them too hard and make things worse.

  • thoomas Aug 04, 2008

that fuse seems to be ok so no i assum i need a new power supply. i looked at the link you posted and it was very helpful but i can not find my con chip. i have 3 heat sinks with chips. both of them have chips with 3 wires going into the board and the other 4. i do not see one with 16 prongs like the one on the link.how do i know if it needs a new con chip witch is one board or a power supply witch is another board? just a gamble?i have seen where alot of people say its the chip.should i try to replace that board first? sorry to be so needy....im poor and i bought this tv for 350.00 and would like to fix myself if i can.

  • thoomas Aug 04, 2008

    i have number one.

  • thoomas Aug 04, 2008

should i try to replace that first and if that doesnt work try the other board with the convergence chips on it?

  • thoomas Aug 04, 2008

i thought of tring this first http://cmpalmer.blogspot.com/2006/11/fix...

can you show me where my convergence chips are. my heat sinks have chips but not like the ones in that link. i would like to try to replace them first (sinse it is cheeper) and see if that fixes the problem.if no fix i will replace power board and go from there.i read alot of people say the chips are going out on this model.

When that happens on the ITC222 chassis which is what your model is. Its due to the convergence power supply going bad and it takes out fuse FL231 and then the convergence option will disappear from the menu. You will need to replace the convergence power supply board and the one fuse FL231. The following link has both Items with free shipping within the US. they are listed under the RCA parts category. You need the D52W20 convergence power supply and the FL231 is there as well.

    Heres the link

FL231 near the flyback There are none on the Convergence power supply board. FL231 is the one linked to the convergence power supply and makes the convergence option drop from the menu

Ok thats the D52W20 convergence power supply that is listed under the RCA parts at the link I posted.

Your model doesnt use the Convergence ICs. There are an entire series of small transistors. However that is not what your set needs when the option has dropped from the menu. Its the convergence power supply and FL231 which need replacement. Fuse FL231 has to be removed from circuit to test or you will get a false positive reading from the surrounding circuit.

No fuse FL231 is located next to the flyback on the deflection board there are three brown rectangle fuses all in a row FL231 is the center fuse.

I just contacted them the D52W20 was a remanufactured board that was sold all they have available now are the ITC222 convergence power supply which is the same its just that these are the new boards , they have sold out of the remanufactured ones as they are a high demand circuit board.

sound like a convergence problem.
check out this site.
i did a self focus in the service mode which corrected my problems, but lost the self focus function out of the service mode, so enter at your own risk, i can live with the right picture without the self focus feature,  but am inquiring on forums how to get it back.
