Unfortunately it's not unusual to get a laptop or mb that has some USB slots that don't work. I'm assuming you've checked to make sure all the power wires are connected? If it's all connected and not working I would exhange the board rather than trying to fix it.

The match is critical. Look for the values such as AMPERAGE in Milliamps and Proper Voltage as specified by the manufacturer. Failuer to make a pure match could burn up the Motherboard.

My computer cannot recognised a usb

A better description of the issue would help a lot, but...
If you've verified the device you are plugging into a usb port works in another computer, then here's some basic things you can try:
- Ensure plug and play service is enabled.
- Remove any usb software listed in add/remove programs or 'programs and features'.
- Ensure the usb ports are enabled in BIOS, obtain motherboard or OEM manual/support for this.
- If it's not working, but did and you upgraded your operating system, obtain your windows updates, if still not working uninstall drivers from device manager, restart your computer.

Your new hardware might not work properly error will appears

Hi,
This error message comes up when you plugged in your USB Flash drive into a lower version of a USB port. Try using another port in your machine, ports that are USB 2.0 compatible and you shouldn't see this error again.
By the way, there are old motherboards which does not have ports for USB 2.0. You might want to check your motherboard user guide and see which ports runs at 2.0. If there is none, I'm afraid that the only way around it is to upgrade into a better motherboard.
Hope this help.

A lot depends on where the keyboard and mouse are plugged in. I have seen in the past that the USB in the back works better than the front. Are these the original keyboard and mouse? If not, use the original until after Windows loads the desktop.

Hello
Try this.
Unplug usb key board.start pc.plug usb keyboard in.should work.

Try reinstalling usb drivers or chipset drivers for motherboard if above does not work.

I need to know where to plug the power plugs and usb plugs

Usually it will say on the MB... But which ever two pins, when shorted, turn the PC on is the Power SW but it is better to consult the manual.
Here is your manual:

Compaq Armada E500 PC Notebook usb port problem

If the usb connector / port is only damaged it should be a fairly easy task.

Your going to need a few screwdrivers to get the laptop open
and a soldering iron, to remove the port or ports connector(s)
from the motherboard then replace it with a new connector.
if the motherboard is damaged you would most likely have to replace the whole motherboard and that would be way too much money for a few usb ports.

the usb connector only has 4 pins
