Question about NetGear WNDR3400 N600 Wireless Dual Band Router (WNDR3400100NAS)

Hello all, I recently purchased a Netgear N600, WNDR 3400 dual band router and I am having issues with the internet connection at the moment. The first few days, the connection was great but all of a sudden this morning, it was super slow. It shows as being connected and pages will load but just very, very slowly. I'm not really sure what the issue is; I ran into this same problem upon setting it up and called my ISP, Comcast, and they did a modem reset which cleared the problem but I think the problem is probably more related to the router after experiencing this for a second time. I'm posting this from a work computer due to the connection issue at the moment. Any advice on how to set it up to perform optimally all the time? Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

It's normal. Your NetGear firmware need an update. You should have firmware version 1.0.0.38. Download here. http://kb.netgear.com/app/products/model/a_id/13608

Im having problems connecting to the internet after i got a netgear wireless dual band router to my pannaway modem


First check that router light is blinking. If not, need to repair or replace.

If light is blinking, you need to reset it. There will be a reset button back side of your router, press and hold it for 30 seconds. Restart your router and reconfigure.

chek your speed with a comercial site that chek your speed
if the speed is fix and slow - the problem can be with the providers limits

if the speed change all the time it can be an common user area - you are sharing the internet speed with other people

Connect a LAN cable from the Netgear to the LAN port on yourcomputer, open a browser and enter the Netgear configuration URL -
http://192.168.0.1
The default login = admin
The default PW = passwordYou can now change the default admin password and configurethe wireless settings.
Go to the wireless configuration and set up the SSID and WPA or WPA2encryption.or passphrase etc.
Apply these settings to the wireless card in your laptop/computer.

I have a new Netgear WNDR 3400 router. PS3 and iPods connect to internet. Toshiba laptop receives the router signal, but wont connect to internet. help!


Most likely a DHCP or DNS problem on the laptop. To confirm this open a command prompt Windows Button > type "cmd" <enter>. Now at the command prompt type "ipconfig". Scroll up to the top of your output and you should have an "Ethernet Local Area Connection". Your IPv4 address should start 192.168.x.x. If yes you are getting a valid assigned IP via DHCP, if you get 169.x.x.x then you are not. To fix Click windows button > All Programs > Accessories > right click command prompt and click "Run as Administrator". Now type "ipconfig /release" followed by "ipconfig /renew". Give it a few moments and check to make sure you get a 192.168.x.x IP now and you should be good.

Hello my computer is recognizing the router netgear 3400 , the connection is working without the router but it's not going through it .

Never buy Netgear. They design product so it won't work unless you pay more for technical support. They told me the technicians during the 90 day warranty are not good enough to fix problems, so you can't get solution until warranty runs out and you have to pay extra!
