Any standard ATX motherboard will fit. You may need to upgrade your power supply unit as well.

Generally upgrading the motherboard is easy, as long as it fits in the case. However it's what goes on the motherboard that will cause you problems. For example if you are fitting the old memory cards and the processor any other cards that fit into the slots, they might not work with the new board, so you could finish up replacing them too!

I need to buy a matherboard for my compaq presario sr 5610 f

I just replaced the motherboard in a Compaq SR5610F because the capacitors were swollen and the computer was flaky: rebooting, losing devices, etc.

I bought an ASRock N68-CGS FX, about $50 shipped. The processor and memory from the Compaq work in it, and the board fits just fine in the case; in addition, you can devote 256 megs of shared memory to video (double the Compaq board). If you want to upgrade later, it will take a number of AMD 3 or 3+ processors, and there are two DDR3 memory slots.

No, don't waste your time, CPU's are mated to their motherboards.

Can the acer aspire timelines processor be upgraded from a solo to a duo processor?

i doubt it..now if it was a desktop if would be easy..just purchase a different processor..and a upgraded motherboard in some cases...but for a laptop its a different story..most parts in a laptop/netbook/notebook are built into the motherboard/onboard...so unless you can configure a motherboard to fit into your netbook(which i wouldnt recomend), i dont think you can..

Help Upgrading Processor

You'll find the information you seek at both the processor company and the motherboard company. As for remounting it in a Compaq case you may run into some issues of the On/Off Switch, power lead, reset button ect...matching up. You might be suprised at how inexpensive a new computer case is. I've seen some as low as $25. Your power supply can be removed and it will fit in your new case. You may just have a easier go of it. Good luck...please leave a rating, thank you kindly

UPGRADING FROM PENTIUM 3 PROCESSOR TO PENTIUM 4 PROCESSOR

To upgrade from a Pentium 3 to a Pentium 4 processor, you would have to replace the motherboard. The Pentium 4 processor has more pins on it than the Pentium 3 and would not sit in a Pentium 3 motherboard.

Evo d3d upgrade!?

In the older days it was easier to tell you right away which processor would fit as there was not much variance in slot configuration. The Pentium 4 was released in several slot (sometimes called socket or pin-array configurations)configurations. The easiest way to tell is to remove your processor. Where it plugs into the slot (socket) you will see marked on the slot holder the configuration (Should say something like Socket 775 or Socket 478). Once you know what will fit in there you can go about ordering your upgraded processor. I would do some more information digging to see if your motherboard can handle the upgrade and how much memory it can handle. Have you already upgraded the memory? Sometimes more memory can make your computer faster. Also do you want it to be faster because it has gotten slower or because you want to run better games? If it has just gotten slower then go to CNET's download.com and download some Malware removal tools to help get your system cleaned up.
Let me know if this helps. This is a starting point.

Processor upgrade

Your CPU is tied into your motherboard. Only CPUs that are compatible with your motherboard will work. You can get your motherboard model from start>programs>system tools>system information. Once you have the model # then you can start searching for the CPU options. Good Luck.

Please rate this solution.

Upgrading my processor without changing my motherboard

A pentium 3 processor is probably in a Socket 370 socket.

None of the current processors would fit in this socket, so you would want to look at second-hand computer stores / markets or maybe in your local classifieds.

It might be worth checking what speed processors your motherboard can support up too before buying one.
