    Thanks for your response.

While waiting for your response I found another suggestion athttp://www.hometips.com/repair-fix/icema... Following that suggestion I used a hair dryer to partially melt and remove the ice stuck in the mechanism. Turned on the unit and waited to see if it would make ice. It didn't so I used the hair dryer again at the back of the inside of the ice compartment where the water comes in, heating the 3" tube that comes in to the icemaker. After turning on the unit again and waiting, I heard the clunk of falling ice cubes! It appears to be working but I will wait until it runs awhile to verify that its ok.

I used a hair dryer to melt and remove the ice that was stuck in the mechanism. Then I used the hair dryer again to heat the 3 inch tube inside the ice compartment where the water comes in. After I plugged in the refrigerator and waited it started making ice. And continued to make ice, filling up the ice compartment. It continues to make ice even when the bail is in the up position which means we have to keep emptying the ice. So how do I stop it so it only makes ice until the bail gets pushed up to stop it?

Ice is stuck in the air hole you would first take a hair dryer unplug your unit and defrost what you can see iin the fridgerator then you would remove the rear panel inside the freezer section and defrost around the entire condensor you can also click on this link to find out why your unit is iceing up as well http://www.applianceoutletservice.com/appliance-care-tips/refrigerator-tips/refrigerator-defrost-system-information.htm most oftenly this ice up issue is caused by the defrost thermostat id say about 91% of the time if you know how to use a multimeter you can do a continuity test on the defrost thermostat and the defrost heater as well also assure that the fan is working as well when you remove the rear panel inside your freezer as to the defrost timer some units have them some units use a pcb board to control the deforst fucntion here is a video on how to test the defrost timer as well http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPpLl2d0094 if you have any further questions message me back and please remember to rank how this opinion has helped when our chat has fully concluded it allows me to help others in similar situations Thanks Rick

you have two choices you can either replace the entire icemaker or replace the switch on the inside of the icemaker which most of the time if you were going to do the job yourself would be cheaper and less hassle to just replace the entire ice maker itself in no way would you want to call a technician you would end up paying close to 180 for them to repair the icemaker. Ice makers new usually run between 60-100 in my opinion it would be alot easyier to just replace the icemaker if you have further questions message me back Thanks Rick

Hi

Check for the bellow steps you can take to get your icemaker working (be sure the bail wire above the ice tray is in the down position:-

1) If the icemaker doesn't make ice but you can see the arm swing into motion and you hear a buzz for about 10 seconds after it is finished, the water valve is asking for water that isn't arriving. This means the valve and the solenoid are probably okay, but the water supply is not. Be sure the water supply line isn't kinked behind or beneath the refrigerator (1/4-inch copper tubing is much better than plastic fill line). Check to see if something has caused ice to back up around the mechanism-this can cause the fill tube to freeze, blocking the mechanism. When ice cubes are small and seem to be getting smaller, it generally indicates a frozen fill tube.

2) Check the water line that enters the back of the freezer for a blockage. Find the water shut-off valve behind the refrigerator or under the sink, turn it off, unscrew the copper line from the back of the refrigerator, put the copper line in a bucket, turn on the valve, and see if pressurized water pours out. Check the tap valve; a bad tap valve may cause the problem where the icemaker's supply tube connects to the water pipe. If necessary, replace the inlet valve and the tap valve. For the tap valve, use the type that requires you to drill a 1/4-inch hole (as opposed to the "self-piercing" type). You can do this yourself, or call a repairperson or plumber to install an inline water filter when replacing the valve.

3) The water line attaches to a solenoid at the back of the refrigerator and then travels to the icemaker. The solenoid may be defective or may not be receiving power. You can try removing the sediment screen inside the solenoid and flushing it with water to clean it, and at the same time you can inspect any seals or diaphragms to ensure that they are sound. Unplug the refrigerator first. Unless you're skilled at home repairs, this job is better left in the hands of an appliance repairperson.

Amana ars2464 won't make ice

first check that the icemaker is getting water

second, check the temperature in the freezer. the freezer needs to be below 10 degrees to work.

if both check out, then you need a new icemaker

Amana Model # ARS9167AB water line works fine, water not filling ice tray and front of fridge between doors is burning hot!! Im afraid to go to bed in case of fire! Underneath is all clean.

Check this Once in a while the temp. in the freezer varies. When the icemaker is running through its' cycle, ice crystals form and cause a blockage and the cycle stops. Also check the stop arm. Make sure it's not stuck in the 'up' position. This sometimes happens when the bin is overly full and the arm gets stuck in the 'off' position. You say you have water supply...other than these quick fixes, I can't think of any other things to check. Good luck.

11 year old amana bottom freezer icemaker drips water when filling tray

Hello dunc444444
Welcome,
You said, Bottom freezer works fine, but upper refrigerator has no cold air

Is your freezer so full that it is packed to the top especially in the rear?
Refrigerators and freezers share the air from the compressor and travel through vents in the rear of the freezer and fridge.
Sometimes it can effect the cooling in the fridge if the freezer articles block the vents!

The water overfilling in the ice maker is an ice maker problem only.
When we install an ice maker there is a short white plastic tube that we push through the rear
hole of the fridge which supply's the water to the maker, the outside water line attaches to this.
That tube we push through the fridge must go in till it stops. And empties in to a little sistran at the rear of the ice maker. Make sure it did not sip out or backwards a little when you may have moved
rolled the fridge out to clean under it!

Also you need periodically to remove the front grill down in front of the fridge and gently run a refrigerator brush under the coils to clean out the dust that may block air flow over the coils.(the coils are metal black tubes that run back and forth along the bottom of your fridge.
The vacuum will not reach in to that tight space. That's why they make a special brush for this chore.
Let me know how you do?
