The inside drum quit turning. is there a belt that turns this and if so how do I get to it. I had the top open but could not see anything. The drum spins if I manually spin it so I know it is not bound up anywhere.

If you cant see a belt about 1/4" wide around the drum, there will be a mark where the belt was on the drum before it broke, remove front panel and restring belt around the drum, then replace front drum piece that holds the drum in place and then string belt around idler and motor pulleys and replace front cover

The drum will not turn, I think the belt broke. How do I open it to find out.

Before you do anything please unplug. I'm not familiar with this model, but you have something else going on there. If the belt has broke or came off the drum would spin quite freely, no motor drag. Try lifting up the top. You may have to insert a puddy knife in the top front corners to release the clips. If not you should be able to remove the back panel. You have to find what is causing the drum obstruction. Goodluck Google burdfrenzy

The machine appears by the sound of it to be only turning at half its normal speed clothes take longer to dry

You could have something inside the dryer dragging on the dryer drum. You can unplug the dryer and lift the top *(your dryer lid is held on by spring clips just push up on the front edge and it should pop open, tilting up and back) Look around for anything in the area of the drum that doesnt belong there...a sock...a pair of shorts...dryer get the idea.

If you dont see anything you may have a drum roller going bad. That will take a bit of dexterity to check out but you should be able to see if one of the roller looks like it isnt turning. Give the drum a turn by hand and see if a roller is hung up.

Good luck and be careful.

Today our dryer quit drying. It hums but is not tumbling.

Dryers are belt driven. Something has locked the drum or motor, and that is why you hear the humming sound. With the dryer turned off, reach inside the drum and try to turn it. It should turn pretty freely. There will always be some drag. If you need a lot of effort to turn the drum, then it is time to investigate what is causing the drag. Probably, something has gotten wedged between the drum and the front wall of the dryer.

If you cannot find anything there, then it could be helpful to remove the outer shell from the dryer and investigate further to find the source of the drag. This requires some mechanical skill, so think carefully if you want to try it or call a service company or simply replace the dryer. A used dryer can cost $100 or less.

Loud noise that sounds like a train coming from drum

Check inside the drum for loose plastic bars that run front to back. You will need to release the top to tighten them if they exist. With top open, check the drive belt condition and replace it if it is cracked, pieces missing, or running loose. To release the belt, open a panel in back and release whatever creates tension in the belt (usually remove a large spring). With belt off, turn the drum by hand to check the rear bearing and whatever provides a bearing for the front edge of the drum--some dryers use plastic plates on the cabinet side for the drum to turn on, and others have actual rollers that the drum turns on. If rollers, check each one for missing pieces or warped surfaces of the rollers. If plates, check each one for wear through to the metal. Hope this helps.

Gas dryer gets hot but the drum doesn't turn. Broken belt?

open the door to the dryer and inside the rimof the door there is a switch, puch the switch in and with the oppisite hand puch the start button on the dryer. if the drum does not spin then you know its the belt. Pull Lint vent out if top mounted and remove the 2 screws, Between the top of dryer and the front panel, stick a putty knife roughly 3 inches from the side of dryer. There are locks that you will unlock with putty knife. once top is removed at top corners of front panel inside you will find 1 swcrew on each corner, and pull off front panel, slip new belt in and start putting things back together.

It can be done from the top, but it is awkward.
Remove top cover, and tilt washer towards you , you may need someone to hold it steady for you.
Reach down inside washer and slip belt over motor pulley, then start to feed belt over drum pulley guiding it round the pulley, at the same time turn drum with pulley gradually feeding the belt around..
The only other way is to remove the rear half of the cabinet, this is quite an involved job.
Good luck.
Plz rate my soution.

Drum stopped turning

99% of the time it's the belt.

Pull the top off the dryer. Typically a couple of screws in the back and then slide the whole top towards the front of the dryer, an lifting from the front edge open it up like a chest. Check out the drum. You should see a broken belt or no belt.

Grab back of dryer and pull top forward while holding dryer in place with knees. Do this to pop up top on front left then front right. Remove 2 screws holding front panel 2 side panels. They are at top front of side panels, inside.
Pull front panel out at top and pull up to remove front panel. Put belt around drum with grooved side toward drum.

Drum won't turn

not really, it may only be a little effort to figure out how the new belt gets wrapped onto the tensioner pulley...the broken one is surely on the floor coiled up under the dryer like a dead snake....don't's dead.
